2015 vs 2014 - Summit

I am planning on buying a used Summit around the time the 2016s come out. I know 2014 was the refresh.

Were there any major improvements made to 2015 that would warrant getting it over the 2014?

I really like the look of the 2014 refresh, and I have never owned a new car, so one model year is no big deal to me. I would assume there would be a cost savings on getting a 2014.

Just figured I should check with the experts to see if there is anything major improved upon the 2015, Uconnect, trim, etc

Buy your 2014 with a build date of august 2013 or later. The ones prior to late july 2013 will not have ACC with stop.

Re: 2015 vs 2014 - Summit

If you can save thousands on a 2014 versus a 2015, I'd go for the 2014 as there really is no difference that is worth that much ... sure the minor changes in cabin noise may be nice, but really not that much of a difference to be worth too much. Mine was a March 2014 build and been great except I did have the front half axles replaced due to the boot clamp problem which affected just a few weeks of production (my service dealership has only done two vehicles with that issue including mine).

Best wishes...

Re: 2015 vs 2014 - Summit

In a Summit I would get a 2015 to get the addition luxury enhancements such as active noise cancellation, etc. If its an Overland get a 2014.

I went with a 2014 built early 14 since the difference in price was a lot. Noise cancelation and the extra backgrounds for the radio screen wasn't worth the difference in price...in my case

The 2015s will also have access to the new Uconnect applications that the 2014s won't.

Re: 2015 vs 2014 - Summit

In the end...since your buy is a year away...it will come down to what's actually available to you in the pre-owned market within the geography you want to shop in. For a Summit, I'd want the MY15, personally, of the two, but the supply of used MY15 Summits in your time frame will likely be less than the supply of MY14 Summits just because less folks let go a one year old vehicle than let go a two-three year old vehicle.

Wait I thought that was just an update to the app itself, but you are saying the actual Uconnect system in the 2015 is different?

Re: 2015 vs 2014 - Summit

Mike-Mike, my understanding is that there are slight hardware differences in the MY15 implementation of the entertainment systems. (I could be wrong about that, but there have been indications of this in other discussions)

Something is different as the 8.4A/N is a totally different part # (not just the usual AA,AB,AC migration due to prob fix/mod) for MY15 over MY14. This is at least one reason the MY15 software updates cannot be applied to a MY14 rig.

Not saying "Uconnect" is different just mentioning this in case it has relevance.
