So good to see "Tan" in the Summit interior listing...finally. :)

Nappa leather-faced with perforated inserts — Indigo Blue/Jeep Brown with Pearl accent stitching and piping - Standard on Overland

I was thinking about the blue/brown in my next Jeep. Then I saw a pic of this with the pearl piping. It looks really strange and out of place to me.

For as much as I really don't care for black, it looks like the only choice I can live with. At least the copper accent stitching will look better than the white they use now.

#11 ·
Nice that they offer it, but I'd still stick with brown. LOL

Glad they are offering a lighter color again in the Summit --- the black and brown options were pretty similar. I wonder if the "tan" will really be the old "new saddle"?

The Bright White looks good with any interior...it really is a nice white and am glad I bought one.

The new color tan on the Summit interior. Is that going to have carpet that matches the draperies? Something like the Light Frost Beige. Or is it going to be like the Black/ Dark Sienna brown. Where the the seats are tan and the rest of the interior is black?
In fairness it did not state black/tan combo. A medium tan all over would be excellent.

Now on to the Redesigned shifter. What does that really mean? I know , Stay tuned !

GCO, that is with the delayed year, if I'm not mistaken. Originally it was going to be MY18 released in 2017 for the new platform...again, if I'm not mistaken. MY16/17 was going to be the last for this platform.

After double-checking, you're probably right. For some strange reason, I had MY20 for the delay in my head.

I certainly prefer MY19 though..:D

So no horsepower increase for both 3.6 and 5.7? That's a bummer :(

#21 ·
Hmmm, so deep cherry red is gone?

There are big changes for the V6. The 3.6L is getting the "Pentastar Upgrade" (PUG) which adds direct injection. MPGs should increase a significant amount with that new technology. I read in the earlier refresh thread that turbo charging was not expected in the upcoming JGC, put sounds possible in the future. Also the 3.6L will now have the Start/Stop system which increased city fuel economy in the baby Cherokee 1-2 MPG in 2015. Personally, I am hoping that MPGs improve 10% to 20% overall like they have for other brands when they implemented these technologies. The CAFE standards call for certain goals by 2016, so all automakers are putting their best foot forward with regards to MPGs for MY2016.

The Start/Stop PUG seems great to me as well, but continued lack of available rear ELSD (like available with hemi and diesel) would be a deal breaker for me. I want fuel economy AND off-road capability! Diesel is intriguing of course but may be overkill for my needs.

My neighbor has it in a Ford. She was apprehensive, but after a year she said she never even notices it. She pulled up in front of my house one day, and while we were talking the car shut off. When she was ready to pull away she just stepped on the gas and was gone.

As for the battery and starter, I'll bet at least one engineer thought about that, without consulting the the car forums. :)

What is so irritating about the Mercedes iteration?

Now, what about these features? They are not listed as 'New' for MY16 (not anymore) - BUT....are still listed as 'new features' for the refresh itself:

Electronic parking brake (EPB) with Safe Hold Console-lever electronic parking brake supplants conventional pull-handle/push-pedal system; can be activated while driving (pull up switch and hold); can be released automatically by engaging forward or reverse gears with driver buckled in and door closed; also features Safe Hold, which stops the vehicle using the motor on caliper (MOC) at each rear wheel if driver unlatches seat belt and opens door without placing vehicle in park.

and

LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus Alerts and assists driver with corrective action; leverages electronic power steering (EPS) to deliver subtle steering-wheel input when system detects need for course correction

and

ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist Ultrasonic parking sensors on bumper guide driver into parking space. The system automatically controls steering-wheel angle, driver controls, gear position, brake, and accelerator. Parallel parking possible on either side of vehicle; for perpendicular parking, vehicle backs itself into space.

Were these features all planned and then simply skipped?:(

Am I the only one that finds these types of "features" undesirable? Do we really need the Electronic Parking Brake, or the car taking over the steering? Just seem like more nanny features for folks who can't be bothered to pay attention to what they are doing.

I wouldn't worry about the battery.

The batteries will be fine. :)
