Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I may just have to scoop up a 2015 then. That interior is really the main reason I am going the Summit route over the Overland. The other features are nice, especially the "softer" seats, but I really like that interior color more than anything. 0% financing right now and a local dealer has what i want short of skid plates and block heater.

I'm liking that they are offering the tan for the MY16 Summit, but truly do wish it was lighter or they also offered the light-frost like every other luxury vehicle...I just plain don't like dark interiors. (actually, I'm not keen on dark exteriors either, but can be more flexible there...)

Ditto. I specifically got an Overland instead of a Summit because I can't stand the trend of dark cave-like interiors and wanted a light interior.

The pearl ivory, recently announced, should work for me.

Been wondering ... and can't find accurate colors online ... how does the Dark Sienna Brown compare to the former New Saddle? I really liked the New Saddle but wished it was a tad more tan and a bit less orangey depending on the light.

From the pics I've seen, the sienna brown is a nice looking, medium shade of brown. The saddle has too much orange in it for my liking.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Would it be safe to 'assume' that the Ivory TriCoat will be the same as Chrysler and Dodge already offer? If so, I'm sold.

Convenient it wont be a problem until your out of warranty, note the 2010 Taurus is avg like 19Mpg in this long term test, not impressive but consistent with what is report on the truck boards that the 3.5 EB is a gas pig.

The carbon build up problem may not occur on a DI Pentastar if it continues without EGR (it's one of the few engines that run clean enough to not need EGR in its current form). I believe the carbon build up on other DI engines is the result of EGR introducing carbon into the intake stream. In a traditional port injected engine, fuel hits the back side of the intake valves and helps clean the carbon off. In a direct injected engine, nothing but air (and recirculated exhaust gas on EGR equipped engines) hits the back of the intake valves.

Anyone know if the PUG motor will have EGR?

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hi, new member here...

So I am planning purchasing either a 2016 Challenger or a 2016 Grand Cherokee come spring next year. For various reasons I keep waffling back and forth but I am leaning more towards the GC at this point.

Anyway, I have been waiting patiently for new info on each vehicle and one of the most important upgrades/features I was looking forward to was CarPlay added for the 2016 models.

After seeing the latest info from Uconnect I was extremely disappointed that they announced last week that only "Siri Eyes Free" will be with the Uconnect 8.4 models later this year. Is there any chance they add CarPlay to the 2016 models? Or do we have to wait until late 2016 for the 2017 models??

From everything I've read it sounds like the Unconnect models can't be upgraded from year to year which sounds odd. I know these on board systems interconnect with the PCM and so forth communicating with the vehicle but they should be able to separate the NAV, Music Bluetooth and so forth from the and make that part of the system upgradeable.

Anyway that one lack of features is actually enough to put me off from buying a challenger of GC until they offer Carplay.

Any additional info appreciated!

Thanks

Yes. Cooled EGR. Also an advanced two-step variable valve lift system and upgraded VVT system
