what is to fix?

Shifter will be like those on the LX cars, go over to one of the Challenger/Charger/300 boards, and Dodge site to see it.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I love the shifter in my 14 JGC.

I'm guessing they're going to make it more like the one in the "baby" Cherokee. As bill_de says, that will make it more like a "normal" (old, outdated!) shifter.

At least they're not putting a dial in...I really hate that design.

You just can't please everyone!

I think I am the only person in the world that actually likes the shifter design. I had a Ram and liked the knob too, though.

Guess I'm just a sucker for stuff that's a little different. I don't think the "new" redesign is bad, and fixed detents aren't really a disadvantage. Just think the current one is nifty and easy to use.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm renting a '15 4x4 Limited for a two-week visit to the Yellowstone area. I like the vehicle every bit as much as I expected to, both on and off road. But I hate the shifter even more than I feared. I'm glad it'll be different on my '16.

BTW, the transmission is a delight.

Will the paddle shifters remain on the steering wheel? Or will that move down to the shifter per the document?

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

What would have been wrong with a simple 5 position switch with detents. If this thing causes problems it will be because it's too complicated for the people building it to understand.

Anyone remember K.I.S.S. ... Keep it simple stupid!

Steering wheel paddle shifters for all trim levels, and for 2016 you will be able to turn them On/Off via the radio screen... the new shifter might be available only on Overland -up models, still trying to verify.
