Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hi...Newbee here. I am considering buying a 2016 Grand Cherokee. I recall from when Daimler owned Chrysler, the Grand Cherokee was placed on the MB ML chassis. Is this still true with FCA ownership? My wife owns the 2014 Cherokee and loves it...will get the 2017 model when her current lease runs out. Any advice concerning Cherokee vs Grand Cherokee. Cheers,
Dave

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

barnesdh, the MY11 through current JGC platform is the same and is indeed the platform shared with the ML350. That will not change until MY19 due out sometime in mid-to-late 2018 when a new platform debuts.

Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are two significantly different vehicles in many ways except for being "Jeep" branded. Different market segments, size, etc.

Someone asked about how the Tri-coat paint was applied at the plant. Basically, the process involves adding and programming a 3rd "paint-bot" to each of the pairs of existing paint-bots.

Milous - When do you think the Ivory will start appearing on dealer lots?

The production launch is next week, so I would say starting in early April.

I was under the impression that the Summit had the simulated leather.http://www.naturaleather.com/
The Overland has the Nappa leather .

Jeeps Natura Plus real leather is unrelated to the NaturaLeather (trademark brand) synthetic leather in that link.

Yeah it would make no sense for the Overland to get real leather and then the Summit get crap. Lol
