Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Were people having issues accidentally hitting the paddles or something? Why would you need to be able to turn them off?

Yep, looks like a short version of the Cherokee shifter. Might not be bad, but I like the 2014/15 JGC shifter. Wouldn't have changed a thing. Good news is I get to keep it for as long as I want.

There were at least a few people here who had those issues.

Better to be able to turn them off than do away with them.

In addition, there was another reason that they needed to be turned off/on for SRT models; since the engineering changes were already being developed, they may have decided to offer it across the board.

Or is it chassis material?

Now that's interesting...handful of the listed 2016 SRT features are already making me wish I'd waited. Specifically the configurable driver modes for sure...

Not a new color, go with the latter.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Love the paddle shifters and no issue with the current shifter. The paddle shifters, once used to them, give you the best features of having both an automatic and manual transmission. So easy to flip modes by hitting/holding the + paddle shifter. It also gives more control of the air suspension. Once up to speed, if I know I am going to end up slowing/stopping for a light, I could tap the paddle shifter to lock in 8th gear and it holds off the suspension from going to aero until over 60 mph. Easy to avoid going up and down between traffic lights in suburban driving. It becomes 2nd nature.
