An off switch with memory is something i would hope they have.
From what I've read, they're expecting to see around 3% improvement in fuel economy and about the same decrease in emissions. Reality may be better or worse depending on one's driving habits.

Edit to correct... I believe that actually was for the 3.2L stop'n go in the Cherokee. Not sure what they're expecting for the 3.6L.

Well that eliminates the need for my switch. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1437312199.607411.jpg

I just read that the eBrake will engage if the driver's door is open and the car is not in park. Someone else noted that the seatbelt might be involved also. I guess they never drove a car onto a lift with the door open so you could see exactly where your wheels were.
Let me preface this by saying that I agree "last use" would make sense when not given a preference somewhere. Seems that would make BOTH camps happy, and that should be the goal, though in some cases they have to make the EPA happy too.

BUT have you ever thought for one moment that not everyone agrees with you? I LIKE the shifter, I leave my Jeep in Eco all the time (though that may be because of the diesel torque,) I don't care if my radio doesn't mute (that's what my unused USB source is for, though I never do that either,) and I leave auto stop start on in our Cherokee.

I have no issue with any of those things.

Oh, and as for the ebrake auto on...you do realize you can push that button to turn off the ebrake in the odd cases where you have to drive with your door open...right? I mean really it doesn't happen often and it's not that hard. It's not like the Eco/stop start/mute issues that happen every time you start.

Wow are we spoiled or what??

I did not know that the eBrake could be turned off. Thanks for enlightening me.

As for the shifter, I know there are more than a handful who really like it. But, if most people liked it, or even quietly accepted it, I don't think we would see a change.

Other things like a muted radio, eco, etc., should be used choice with no additional steps. A blank usb will have the effect of muting the system at start up, unless you like to leave a music filled usb in the slot.

I just feel that buying a vehicle with more features shouldn't require more steps to get started every morning.

To politely counteract your assessment, I think they have no problems making changes regardless of consumer likes. To make my case solid just search in these forums for "Flipper Glass".

Also, it's all about integration of technology, cross platform utilization, price point, and the corporate list goes on and on. Consumer likes is not on that list.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Are this Features and Changes also for the 2016 European SRT Models?
My German dealership told me that these changes are only for American Models.
Ich can not belive this. Has anyone detailed information about the european Models?

No mileage numbers yet. 5.7L mileage is also improved. A switch on the dash will suspend Start/Stop.

Most if not all of the changes will apply to euro models.

Is Start/Stop only on the 3.6L? Any word on if and when it may come to the Diesel?
