The GC doesn't currently have EPS... Does it?

V6 JGC have electric steering vs hydraulic? Did not know that. I'll have to test drive one to check it out, very curious about the EPS feel. I suspect I would hate it in the snow, ice and rain due to lack of feel. Bet the off-roaders r not fans either.

I think the v6 has an electro hydraulic steering system at the moment. It won't go fully electric until 2016.

Yes i think you are right, so all GCs will have full electric for 2016?

Pretty sure, all JGC have a hydraulic rack/pinion now and none will for 16.

2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The current JGCs, of all flavored, are actually still hydraulic power steering systems. The only difference is that on the V6 and diesel, the pump is electrically driven, and its output varied under electronic control. The V8 uses a fully traditional system with an engine belt driven pump.

True electric power steering uses an electric motor to provide assist with no hydraulic system involved. The current Cherokee (and upcoming JGC with the refresh) are true electric power steering systems.

Am I the only one that finds these types of "features" undesirable? Do we really need the Electronic Parking Brake, or the car taking over the steering? Just seem like more nanny features for folks who can't be bothered to pay attention to what they are doing.

On the flip side, we are now better protected from the people you describe.

EXACTLY. That's my issue with EPS systems. Totally disconnected.
