And here's me getting ready to order a 2016 3.6L PUG with QL. Guess I'll just go shoot myself.

Don't shoot yourself, just get the Hemi My V6 has been good but the transmission is wonky sometimes compared to my 14 Hemi.

What's the real-world MPG difference between the two? If the Hemi can shut down 4 cylinders, would that make it more efficient on the highway than 6 cylinders?

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The Hemi claims to be 4 mpg less on the highway. So far my average is about 2mpg higher with the Pentastar over what I was getting with my Hemi.

not a significant mpg difference between the v6 and v8 for the 14s/15s, car and driver managed a 1 mpg difference in their mixed driving testing between the v6/v8 and the mixed epa rated difference is 3 mpg. reason car and driver gave for this was the v6 had to work harder to push around that much weight. different drivers and different situations will be all over the map on this though. the bigger consideration is really the upfront cost I think its around $3300 more on a limited for a v8. for the 2016s the v6 is supposed to get a mileage bump hopefully it will put a bigger gap between the two and make the v6 a little more of an advantage in the mpg department. if you are on the fence between the two then get the v8. ive read several on here that bought the v6 and wish they had got the v8 but not many that I remember that bought the v8 and wish they got the v6. there is an engine for everyone its good to have choices. some of the other mid size suvs you don't get a choice its one engine take it or leave it

Any confirmation on this? I am back and forth on going for a 15' getting one ordered under the wire for the High Altitude, or wait for the MY 16', but concerned the High Altitude wont be available, or it would be after a wait. The one consideration here is that if I wait until 16', I get the PUG if we go with the V6. If we decide on the Hemi, then that's a moot point.

Any confirmations on the High Altitude in 16'? And before everyone says, buy the Hemi- that is the way I am leaning. This will be replacing my wife's current DD that is a 14' Overland V6. She is not opposed to the V8, but we would need to drive one first. So if we go the Hemi route then its just a matter of 15 vs 16, and if both offer the High Altitude, I expect little difference between model years.

Any help in this decision is appreciated.
