I'm disappointed to see (on the Jeep website) that 2016 Laredo trim will have Dual Zone HVAC. I'm a hater of that system ( windows cracked open= lord knows what kind of temp output you're gonna get) and would happily trade in my MY14 Limited for one.
My plan when I left, just about a year ago, I told the sales manager that I would see him in a year for a '16 Summit. Now it looks like it will be closer to a year and a half. I want the Ivory tri-coat.

I waited with great anxiety for my Overland in early '13. This time around it will be winter, so not so anxious.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I rotated the tires on my '15 GC in my driveway and it's driving straighter and not wobbling right and left going down the highway anymore. The lack of Lane Keeping suddenly wasn't such a huge issue. Took it in to be checked after and they found one back tire, which had been in the front before the rotation, was 12 ounces out of balance over and above the weights already on it. Now I don't have to spend $75k on a Porsche Macan to get something that drives right and has steering-based active lane keeping. I was wondering why my '14 Cherokee drove so much smoother than the GC at higher speeds, it was a baffling amount of difference that I had attributed to just being used to the Cherokee's lane keeping system and maybe forgetting how to drive without it. I've never seen a tire this far out of balance without a bent rim, it wreaked havoc when coupled with the soft air suspension. I might ask for a tire exchange under the manufacture's warranty instead of using it loaded with weights.

Any word on if the '16 GC will pass the small off-set crash test?

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks Jim. Meant to write- All MY 2015 trim levels have the Dual zone Auto Temp Control HVAC. I suppose that'll carry over to MY 2016?

( maybe my tune will change after I get my '14 back from the dealer after they "fix" my auto HVAC)

And to Bill...a pre-welcome back.

What's wrong with dual zone HVAC? You should be able to link them and control both as one zone, or separate them and use dual-zone if your passenger wants. What do you lose?

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Milous,

Regarding the NEW: Transmission Oil Heater......wat up wit dat?

I see the SRT (CAN) gets one, Transmission Oil Heater (NHQ), which I do not believe was in 14/15, right?

I know the 845RE and 8HP70 have engine coolant based temp control units but those are only for at temp ops, not for cold ops.

I was guessing that when you posted this new feature originally it was mainly for the V6/845RE trans that has a decent volume of customer complaints that I thought were at least partially related to cold/start/warm-up ops.

Did they just put it on both trans? Two different heaters for each trans.

Also, if the new oil heater is for cold/start/warm-up ops how does it operate such that it warms up the oil "instantly" or thereabouts.

I am sure I have something crossed up so help straighten a brotha out when you get a moment....thx

If I remember correctly I think it is an efficiency thing. temporarily diverts the fluid away from the trans cooler so it heats quicker as these trans are slow to get to temperature or something like that.

Yes, the features list posted at wk2jeeps.com indicates that all trim levels have dual-zone HVAC. But do remember you don't have to "take advantage" of the dual zone capability. I don't, although there was a period of time that our older daughter who has emotional and sensory issues, would fiddle with it and make me freeze to death...

Well that's a disappointment. So once again, they're gonna bring us back from Christmas Vacation, already no longer in the groove of working, and with all of these new parts and procedures?

BAH!!!!!!!

It's 2013 all over again!

Maybe they should just skip 2016 and make it a 2017 now that it has gotten so late? lol The MY14 started production in January of 2013 as a MY14. just couple weeks earlier in this scenario.
or its just be a short run like they did on MY13

Seems rather odd to start one day before the 12/24 to 1/03 xmas break...

Skipping 2016 would mean skipping all the 75th anniversary parties.
