I actually think this is more likely, but thought I would pass along what I was told.

Nikon just dropped the price on a lens I've been considering, by $2,000. Now I'm tempted to take the money that Jeep was going to get and give it to Nikon. Amazon Prime can deliver in 2 days.

Jeep would have to wait 'til next fall.

Yea, my "next" Nikkor lens just dropped a few hundred, too...fortunately, I'm not needing a new JGC anytime soon. (unless I either have a horrible accident or win the lottery, preferably the latter. LOL )

That said, hopefully the wait for the MY16 (or MY17) will be worth it for you!

I still don't know if it'll have a steering-based active lane keeping system or not, I could be waiting for nothing, so my money is going to a Lincoln MKC now. I don't off-road, just snow and ice, so I'll have to get a second set of rims and snow tires to handle the winters now, but the rest of the year will be a nicer ride to make up for it. It has the two things the GC could improve on, lane keeping, and a selectable suspension dampening system.
The 2015 MKC got very poor reviews of MySync 2.0 and the transmission shift points, but the 2016s have fixed both of those. The new radio is now a rip off of the Jeep and works just like it.

Hurt resale? Not at all. In fact, the value may be "higher" when compared to other 2016 vehicles since 2016 GC's will have lower mileage on average.
Well, sir, allow me to explain it to you. You must work for fca... Owner A has a 2015 jeep GC made in nov of 2015. Customer B has a 2016 Audi Q5 manufactured in March 2015. Hopefully you get it by now, but let me put the pieces together for you... In the distant future, say 2020, both owners go to sell their vehicle on the open market. Both have exactly the same mileage.... Ya know what? Scratch that. The audi, in this scenario actually has more miles (owner B), but Owner B actually has the older vehicle, but is able to sell his as a 2016... One "year newer" than the jeep. Are ya with me so far?

Now, you're an uneducated buyer looking for a car. Are you going to buy the 4 yr old 2016 case B (even tho in reality it's older) and potentially with a few more miles on it, or the 2015? How are you going to know the 2015 jeep is actually newer!!!!???? You won't until you look at the name plate. Get it genius? How the F is any fca product going to be "worth more?" Ughhh. Can you too taste the disgust I'm sensing in idiocy? It's breeding out of control these days.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Lazer,

Love the passion and desire to get a strong thought across...I might suggest we not take this too seriously from the standpoint that these kinds of short notice changes and delays are a natural product of the manufacturers' need to be nimble in all areas, especially via product dev cycle massive reductions to meet our very needs as tech hits the auto industry with a vengeance...I agree it does suck as a buyer but what a first world problem to have, yes?

Anyway, just my 25 cens....and NO I am not an FCA employee or fanboy and YES Milous IS an FCA employee who helps make these very awesome JGC's.

Your first post was a dead give away, but this is taking it a step further.

You are the customer who walks into an Apple Store and gripes to all the other customers that the Apple products are crap. Everyone jumps on your case or ignores you and you walk out feeling justified, because all the idiots in the Apple Store must be on the payroll or smoking the same weed. You then go on your merry way with your android that is obviously better, because only idiots and dope heads buy Apple products.

If you don't like FCA, fine, but this is a Jeep forum. don't clutter the thread, and attack the very people that are contributing useful information to the forum.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I would of thought the build plate would clearly show which vehicle is younger, but I could be wrong 😜

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I always figured a vehicle with fewer miles (all else equal) is worth more, not less, than one with more miles because it was around many more months within the same model year.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I fully recognize that I am not a good businessman. (Im a GM of two businesses, Officer on two others, and on the board for 3 more).

And I fully recognize that I am very sloppy with money management. (Im in the market for two 2016 JGC Summits).

And I fully recognize that Im not the smartest guy in the room. (My wife is a shrink and I've taken pretty much every test under the sun, including 5 different IQ tests and I know exactly where I place in the scale).

And I fully recognize that I dont know diddly about vehicles. (Currently own three automobiles. Never sold a vehicle with less than a quarter-million miles on it. Average about 40k miles per year 85% toll-road/5% no-road, Do much of my own maintenance/mods/upgrades; frequently operate everything from Lawn mowers to motorcycles, excavators, bulldozers, 4-wheelers, jet-boats, and light-jet aircraft.....not mine...I aint rich enough to own those toys....but I have a very diverse job description)

So....having accepted the above shortcomings, I also recognize that I am foolish in having never, ever purchased a vehicle, or a home, based on my prognostications of how much it will be worth when I sell it....someday. I buy things after EXTENSIVE research (my wife always ridicules my research but never doubts my decisions). And I buy whatever meets MY needs and MY desires. I dont give a sloppy wet (kiss) about what somebody else might think of what I want/have/or am trying to sell.

I buy things to own them...not to sell them. Im not a flipper. I own things as though Im going to keep them. I take care of what I have.

Resale value never enters my mind when I am buying something. What its worth to ME...NOW....is what matters to me. And I make a quick evaluation of that valuation each time I make a payment.

Im not buying a number. Im buying a Jeep.

I think it says interesting things about the world we live in that we have the luxury of bitching about not being able to spend $40k+....on a 2016 vehicle...in 2015. Says something about how our expectations have evolved into entitlements.

Everybody wants what they want, when they want it. No....actually...everybody wants what they want....BEFORE they want it. They want it sitting there waiting for them to want it. There is no such thing as delayed gratification. No such thing a rapt-anticipation. There is no such thing as waiting for (insert gift-giving occasion) when you just go out and fulfill your wishes at the swipe of a card. NOW...is already too late. (oh...yeah...Im right up the big fat middle of all that with ya...Im not claiming to be some monk sitting on a mountain top bemoaning the decline of civilization).

FCA's biggest mistake....was giving anyone an expected timeline to begin with. If they had never teased an order/production/delivery date or window....then we wouldnt have expectations...we wouldnt have disappointment....we wouldnt have frustration. Well...actually...we would still have the frustration of not having the information that we feel entitled to. FCA cant win. If they give us an expected timeline and fail to meet it...consumers get inflamed. If they give us nothing and tell us itll happen when it happens...consumers get inflamed.

What I would do if I were them...I would communicate MORE openly about whats going on. Transparency. Keep the troops reasonably informed and it minimizes the rampant rumor-mill which erodes morale.

But...that would give the competition too much insight. And As I admitted at the very beginning of this novela....Im not a very good businessman.

Better to keep your mouth shut and have others assume you are an idiot....than open it and remove all doubt.

I have faith that they are doing their best to deal with a huge range of variables and trying to make everyone happy. Eventually, I will have my Looooooooooooooong awaited new ride(s). Until then, I wait patiently in eager anticipation of new details...new photos...and someday....new keys.
