Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

my guess is maybe the factory has started some retooling for the 16's and then ran into some issues and have had to slow everything down.. which maybe it's too late to turn back what has been retooled for the new 3.6 and has them stuck in a rock and a hard place for the 16's

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I would seriously avoid all of the 'early' built 2016 3.6's; this is just based off of their track record with anything new. MY 2011 and 2014 early builds were very scary. And this new upgrade for the 3.6 is proving to be something to avoid!

I'd agree with you there, combine that 3.6 8spd trans which they still have not got the bugs worked out of with that new 3.6 start stop engine and that has nightmare potential for the early takers IMO. Hopefully be good once they get it shaken out to create a better mileage advantage over the v8 that doesn't currently exist, time will tell.

Agree. They'd also have to go through the recertification process with the EPA if they were to switch back to the older V6. Easier to just keep pumping out 15s. If it was just a V6 issue though, one would think that they could start running 16 V8 models. Toyota did that in 03 with the 4Runner. Early builds were all V8s and the V6 was a late availability item.

If the '17s start on time, all '16s may wind up being early builds.

when you say early builds do you mean early 17s?
if so then that means they would hold off even longer and just add the 17 remodel stuff to it

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

He's joking with a play on words, coolchef09... The short MY16 model year kinda makes MY16 just "early builds" for MY17. No real changes coming for MY17 that are known at this time, so like MY15 was essentially a continuation of MY14 in most respects, the same will happen here.

That "night" package on the MY16 SRT is very, very sharp looking, but...$$$$. Wow...

I was assuming in the neighborhood of the $3995 Red Vapor option price.
