2016 ha

I have been waiting to order a 2016 HA but I an not sure when that happens or when I would get it ,so the dealer called me today and said they were taken delivery of a new 15 HA this week color & options that I want and said there was 2500 in rebates now . I know if I buy the 15 it will be a year old in 3 months ,just wish there was more rebates

Tell him that you'll wait.

Odds are they will "find" more motivation and more rebates.

And...as the clock keeps ticking...they will get more and more willing to do so.

The challenge is to not wait too long. Eventually they will find someone who isnt as patient.

This whole delayed start...with a relative firm (supposedly) end for the MY16 is compressing their sales window.

2015 inventory is gonna stagnate while folks hold their breath to see whats gonna happen.

2016 options will go quick...but not as quick as if Jeep had met their initial expectations. Now, relatively knowledgeable consumers are being cautious and wondering wtf is going on behind the curtains and where it makes more sense to just wait a couple more months for a 17.

In short...just my non-professional opinion...the dalays make this a buyers-market. And while the delays annoy us...it COSTS them.

Granted, they will NEVER be at risk of having too many jeeps...they know what they are doing.

But I have a hunch that they want to see inventory (and money) moving just as much as we do.

I'd play it cool. I'd let them know that I appreciate them keeping me in mind but that I am considering my options. Then go back to them in a week with some "questions" just to let them think that you are still circling the hook.

Just maybe...they'll add more bait.

One way to look at it besides being a year old already (which really is just a number IMO), is that its going to have extremely low miles which actually might be more beneficial for resale than being one year newer. For example, I purchased my new 2014 Summit very late when the 2015's were already on the lots for a while. So in other words it is an extremely low mileage example and thats something that really catches peoples eyes when searching for a used vehicle down the road. My 2014 Summit has 4900 miles on it. I cant even find a 2014 SRT with that low of mileage. You do a cars.com search for 2014's and they are almost all 20,000+ miles. Some even as high as 60K now.

If any of that means anything to you than consider that, however I think the real deciding factor here should be if the minor differences and longer wait are worth it to you or not.

Re: 2016 ha

At this point I would tell the dealer to REALLY sharpen his pencil. If you are ready to buy and the 15 is exactly what you want work a deal the makes you happy.

Find out what your best price on a 2016 would be and try to save another 6000 from that which with rebates should be easy to do.

you will definitely payless on the 2015 just depends on how motivated you are by the money. figure you should be able to get the 2015 for 5 or 6 percent below invoice maybe little more little less depending how hard you negotiate and on top of that you get the $2500. for the 2016 as a guess if your one of the first takers maybe you are around invoice or a little less with no incentives. so maybe another 5k in your pocket for taking the 2015 instead of the 2016. id say 2016 if there were substantial differences between the two but that's not the case here, very minor changes. there are pluses and minuses to both. one thing I would never do is buy a model year right before a new platform comes out, wait a year and then get the new platform.

You told them you were interested, but possibly worried about the financial hit of
an instant used car or similar BS, but if they were to sweeten the deal a bit, you have a check available?

Re: 2016 ha

At the right price - I would wire them the money - the only option on the HA is the stereo upgrade which I think was 750 - 800

Rear seat entertainment is also an option. Along with the 3 engine choices.

I wouldn't worry about the financial hit either. Doesn't matter what year it is, all new vehicles take a huge depreciation hit the instant you drive it off the dealer's lot.

Re: 2016 ha

It all comes down to how prepared you are for the negotiations. If you negotiate well enough, the hit won't be that terrible.

I ended up getting my 2015 overland with advanced tech for the same price that used 2014s with 20k miles and no advanced tech we're going for. As long as you know the numbers and negotiate off the price of the vehicle, never the monthly payment, I think you'll be safe getting a 2015 HA
