That seems to b accurately covered. They add about 260 ish for the hemi depending on trims. But my Summit is 31 lbs lighter than the 4x4 V8 Overland? Hmmmm

I'm gonna take Willx's advice and hit the next scale and report back.

And you are all modded with extra stuff.

So if u r 4wd your GVWR is 5,900 (5,200 2wd) so that's a 1,600 ish payload, whoa! Can't find the listed payload for yours, do you know what the number is supposed to be for a 2008 V6 4WD, don't know your trim level.

I keep seeing 1190 as max payload on various sites. But they are using a 4333 curb weight

K but I think it only has GVWR and the axle loading GAWR. So I am pretty sure u r 5,700 for a max weight GVWR. Wonder what the "book" says for your Curb weight and therefore payload.

For curb I've seen everything from 4300 to 4000. I've done some minor weight reduction to balance out the sub and two amps I'm running and came down to 4260. I'll reweigh it one of these days. I think it's lighter then that

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Think I mighta found the missing link and it's the little bugger that many always forget about or mishandle. In drilling into Strongjeff's owner's manual I noticed his definition of GVWR says it includes trailer tongue weight:

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
The GVWR is the total permissible weight of your vehicle including driver, passengers, vehicle, options, trailer tongue weight, and cargo. The label also specifies maximum capacities of front and rear axle systems (GAWR). Total load must be limited, so GVWR, and front and rear GAWR are not exceeded.

However, everything from Jeep online and my '14 manual omits the TW and without a doubt the TW affects Payload capacity.

So Jeep appears to be taking about 10% of 5,000 lbs or 500 as a TW and, appropriately, knocking down my Payload from 1,581 lbs without consideration of TW to 1,050.

The biggest offenders of ignoring TW r dudes at the MX track with a full 55 gallon plastic barrel on their trailer tongue for power washing. Those weigh 475 lbs which is basically max TW for a Class 3 hitch and big chunk of the realistic usable Class 4 TW max.

Willx? Thoughts?
