The black plastic knockout actually serves a purpose on the higher trim levels...it houses the headlight washer system ---

Also, I don't think it is odd to add the latest tech and refinements BEFORE a body change as it will give them a chance to work out some kinks before the body change comes out with inevitable added goodies too.

I agree but it's been done before. The 2003 WJ model year was only 5-6 months or so long. Remember, MY2018 is the projected redesign and new platform. MY2017 is the final year for this platform and could very well be a carryover from MY2016 with only minor option changes. So:

MY2016 starts production Jan. 2016

MY2017 starts July 2016 with minor changes.

MY2018 (redesign) starts July 2017.

This gives a good year and a half of refresh-boosted sales before the introduction of the redesign.

My guess would be a switchover to the 8HP75 for the Hemi and diesel and an 8HP50-based version for the V6. These are ZF's 2nd gen 8-speeds based on the original 8HP45/70. Chrysler may produce the 8HP50 version as an 850RFE in-house as with the 845RFE which is a licensed version of the 8HP45. My guess would be that any use of the 8HP75 behind the V8 and diesel would remain as units purchased from ZF, unless the volume (between the GC and RAM trucks and so forth) warrants an in-house licensed version.

Oh yeah, I totally realize that and it doesn't bother me either way -- but I know that when it debuted there were a lot of people complaining about it.

That's Milous' website. I was referring to its (his) original estimate and info on there -- so close to what he's saying now (which I assume is more accurate now)...not my statement. I wasn't giving any predictions

Aaah, now I see what you're sayin'.

My mistake - how could I even think we would have supporters on this forum who would be so lightheaded by claiming Milous' info as their own and getting away with it..

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

I was under the impression that the new V6 (possibly with a turbo) was going to be in the refreshed JGC?

Also, if its going to get some of the new tech that Milous mentioned (such as electronic parking brake) then they would have to do at least some minor updating to the interior to accommodate the extra switches no?

I seriously hope it gets a decent refresh, as my lease is up in November and it will probably be the last Jeep i buy for a while, so i hope it gets the new state of the art engine and all the tech to go with it.
