That kind of thing can be disabled at all times.

Might be up for PUG too, although if they don't add rear LSD or locker option I'd have to go for the diesel (or just keep my '08 WK 4.7L longer and enjoy the low gas prices ).
Have start/stop in our Tiguan and I must say it is a pain in the arse, every time you get in you have to turn it off, I don't see any advantage, wear out starter, battery and more associated things faster. In traffic air con is stopped, yeah the fan keeps going but the the compressor ain't, when you go to take off, you have to wait for engine to fire, stuff all oil pressure and you put foot down cause the person behind you is pissed off as you have missed the lights.
I have driven in a few topline vehicles with stop/start and all perform the same

BMW's implementation does not kill the engine unless you use a brake pedal force above what is required to hold the car stationary. I have no problem driving with it enabled, and never have the engine stop unless I want it to. If you're used to stuffing the brake pedal through the floor whilst stationary, I guess it could be an issue.

I don't see it as "value add", but if it keeps the fuel consumption police happy... whatever.

Cheers,
Steve

Never heard of stuffing the brakes as you say it, every time you come to complete stop, and waiting for lights to change the engines would cut out. If thats how you drive, you shouldn't assume other people do as well. BMW mustn't be a true stop/ start, obviously driving a BMW must be different if you are stuffing the brakes.

Settle down dude. Try again with minimal brake pressure once stationary.

Ciao,
Steve

I don't believe it can be based on how they're currently using it in the Cherokee.

I leave it on in the Cherokee we have. The implementation is great and it is barely noticeable. You can turn it off at the touch of a button just like those folks who don't like ECO.

Also just for the record.... It has nothing to do with the battery or the starter it is a function of the newer transmissions. It is like a pre wind on the stop pressure (think bum starting a stick shift). Start stop is something that needs to be supported at the transmission level.

Ahhhh... I didn't know you could disable it. That would be a permanent mode for me.

If they go to start/stop I will be wearing out this Lifetime MaxCare and keeping what I've got.

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

I think start/stop is going to be a fact of life for every car over 4 Cyl in the near future. The ability to easily turn it off easily I agree would be very important.

Does the air conditioning still work when the motor stops?
