Does the pentastar v6 GC have electric power steering currently?

Sort of. It uses an electric motor to turn the hydraulic pump. It is still hydraulic steering.

If they are going to be offering parking assist, like Ford, where the wheels steer themselves and the driver handles the gas and brake, they may be going to a fully electric system.

I imagine the specs will start appearing soon.

Also, what does this one mean?

"New: In-cluster Off-Road display pages"

the electric power steering is new system confirmed on 3.6 and 6.4 Hemi. The 6.4 hemi models will get new page to adjust steering to their liking.

New display similar to the Cherokees display of each mode for non 6.4 models

Looks like the Cherokee already does the no-hands steers-itself thing:

I didn't realize that. I just did a little reading and see it does have electric steering without hydraulics.

Thanks for the info.

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

I just drove my Lincoln to the dealership. Since I haven't driven it in a while (my mum is the primary driver on that one now), I just noticed how 'easy' its steering is compared to the Jeep.

The Lincoln already has Park Assist (and therefore, electric steering).

On the Lincoln, you can basically steer with your small finger and in comparison, steering the Jeep is more like a workout..

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Over at WK2Jeeps.com the latest tidbit for the 2016 Grand Cherokee is a "Transmission oil heater".

I never heard of such a thing. Is this something only for really cold climates, or do the new transmissions typically need to get the fluid up to operating temps right away?

The RAM trucks already have this. It's basically a thermal control module in-line with the cooler lines that will bypass the cooler and heat the fluid when it's below operating temp. The 8-speeds, due to their efficiency, typically take a while to reach operating temp. The heater speeds that process up so they reach maximum efficiency faster. It's more of a fuel efficiency and shift quality consistency thing than anything else.

Any new info on this.... has production started? I have been waiting for a new front look for years and am positioned to place an order today. I sure hope they fixed the misfit bumper to headlight issue.
