Lol marlon...are u serious or saecastic...ive had both in my hand because a vendor accidentally sent me one. They are very different.

And yes...there was a refresh planned. ...but was cancelled. Pretty much on par with how FCA does things. Last minute.....

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Well it's close enough now that I'm willing to wait for a 2016 just for the new shifter. The shifter was the only thing I didn't like on my test drives.

I'm hoping for 10% better gas mileage from the PUG. But I know that might come with the new-thing reliability tradeoff.

And I'm really hoping for Android Auto. Oh OK, and Apple Car or whatever that's called for my wife.

I will not buy a Jeep with the 2014-2015 shifter in it.

Been waiting to trade up.

I hope the transmission heater resolves the poor ass 1-2 up shifts I have when transmission oil is not up to temperature. It heats up pretty quickly in summer months, but takes considerably longer in the winter.

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Its too bad some of you guys literally wouldn't buy a 2014/2015 just because the shifter. Some things take a little getting used to and that is one of them, but once you do its super easy to use and is second nature like the old school shifter was.

I agree. I thought it was super ugly at first, but now I don't even think twice about it. And the operation is simple. It might even be neat. If it's good enough for an Audi A8/S8 then it's good enough for me

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Oh I would buy one if that were the only choice. But I didn't like it enough (which sentiment has no doubt been reinforced by its mention in many reviews and the extent to which folks piss and moan about it here) that, given the option, I'm happy to wait a few more months.

2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

So that hunk of plastic shifter is finally going bye bye in favor of something similar to the 2012 original incarnation?

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Even after a year and a half I never got used to the shifter. I replaced the Jeep and I once again can use my car without ever looking at the indicator. The new shifter was a solution that never had a problem.

When I buy a new car, which I do fairly often, I don't want to have to get used to the basics of driving. Thank goodness they didn't change the user interface for steering, braking and gas, even though the technology behind the scenes has changed over the years.
