Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

So is it dumb to buy a 2015 now (greater depreciation with the 2016 being released) or smart since the full refresh isn't for another 2-3 years?

There is not going to be a dramatic difference between the 15 and 16 like there was the 13 and 14. But at this point if it were me i would wait for the 16, i always like the latest and greatest even though the changes will be minor on the 16. Redesign isnt until MY19 so that is still over 3 years from now assuming a normal 2018 realease cycle maybe august give or take a few. I was allset to buy a 13 in fall of 2012 but forced my self to wait 6 montjs until the 2014s came out and glad i did even though the software bugs were a plenty.

I'm the same way as you. I love getting the newest even if it's minimal. I'm waiting on my 2015 to be delivered. Still two weeks out. I can suffer driving a 2015 overland for three years until the MY19 are released

After my early build '14 which was not too bad compared to some others, I have a different philosophy.

"I love getting the newest only if it's minimal."

haha. Although Im not too thrilled about the announcement of the auto start/stop. I had a rental the other week that had it and i didnt not enjoy it. I wouldnt go as far to say it completely ruins the vehicle, just not my preference on my vehicle. Thats going to be a big change for the GC

I love the sporty look but I don't all that power.

Actually I do want the power but ...
They kind of are doing this with the Altitudes, especially now with the 'tinted' tail lamps.

Ehh not really, I mean they started using the same tail light from the SRT and pretty much nothing else. No other similarities whatsoever. Now if they used everything from the exterior of the SRT but had the option of the V6 or the 5.7 V8 then that's for sure more like it.

Maybe a moderator ... cough, cough, Jim ... can close this thread with a last post of the link to the MY16 sticky thread?

Black badges, roof rails, combo leather and suede seats, minimal chrome, black headlights, etc. The fascias aren't the same, but it's apparent they're shooting for more of a 'sport' look. I would have liked them to open up the option list on the Altitudes a little more.
