I agree, those square exhaust tips are lame! Nothing sporty about them whatsoever! Time for a make-over!

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

I haven't heard anything yet about updating the Diesels DEF system. I would assume that would be a pretty big priority with the number of CRD jeeps in and out of the shop replacing parts, paid under warranty by Chrysler.

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I haven't noticed a date anywhere yet. Anyone have a hunch when we will start seeing the leaked '16 GC pics? Was surprised they didn't unveil in Detroit, but debating on ordering a 15 or holding out for 16.

I have no clue about pics - but in regards to timing, this link might help:

Great info! Looks like the 2014 update was considered a mid-cycle refresh, and the 2016 is a "light" refresh. I imagine it can't be too substantial given the new model will be out in 2018...hmmm - decisions decisions

Act now or wait for new model. IMHO, worst model to have is last prod yr of outgoing generation, in general. The exception being when they booger the new model :0. I am an optimist but it will b interesting to see how much FCA, euro influence will permeate new design. I am worried about smaller is better and radical looking angles, etc...could be a face only a mother could love, ya know?

There will be a few "improvements" - I assume they will add some features of the newer Chrysler-models (or the Jeep Cherokee) to the update - like electronic parking brake, lane keep assist etc.

Initially, it was planned that the all-new Grand Cherokee would launch a year earlier as a MY17.

In the end, they decided to delay that for a year and squeeze in another light refresh.

I first thought that a 3-year lease on a MY15 would be just perfect because that would have brought me into the 2nd MY of the all-new model. Now, I would end up in the initial MY of the new one which I'm not really keen on so I'm going to 'squeeze' in a MY17 (final WK2) as well and will get the all-new model either as a late MY19 or early MY20 so that all the kinks are worked out..

Re: 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee REFRESH

I agree with others that we should be hopeful FCA stays on course with the design and engineering that we have seen out of the WK2. However, there are deep roots that our WK2's share with the long and gone Daimler (Mercedes), specifically having shared suspension and other platform features with the Mercedes ML.

Hopefully we don't start to see the Fiat integration as we already are witnessing with the upcoming Cherokee update and the newly released Renegade. But, maybe it's something that is "ugly" at first but accepted in the end like the early Jeep Liberty (KJ) model.

I did instantly love the design of the WK2 which is why I have one.

No offense to any fellow Jeep folks with Cherokees, but gawd I hope they don't go that direction or I will be driving my WK2 until the engine falls out. The Trailhawk version is definitely an improvement, but the lower trims look like the Aztek and Subaru Tribeca had an inbreed child.
