lol that is grand yours shifts just fine but many people have issues with it just like the grand cherokee v6 trans. Of course not all of them have issues but enogh do that it is a noted problem not just in consumer reports.

Yes and in the Stategic Vision Surveys of actual owners, a survey which is sent out to "Random" owners of each brand to eliminate bias, Chrysler and Jeep rate quite in both initial quality and owner satisfaction.

Mu 02 WJ was rated as a piece of junk, yet the only things I have had to fix outside of std maintenance were one rear frozen caliper because it sits a lot and the dash tweeters in 13 yrs of ownership.

CR is for people who cant think for themselves.

Anytime you make a million of something there are going to be a few bad examples in the group. Try going apple picking and and not finding one bruised apple or one with a worm hole.

This is true. But when you compare one orchard to another, the one with the least bruised apples rates higher.

Re: 2016 Jeep Predicted Reliability

The difference between number one and dead last is also like those bruised apples...one orchard had .89 bruised apples.per 100 and the worst had 1.20 bruised apples per 100. (Just an example haters....not true numbers)

I like to look at Consumer Reports as part of some of my research, but their stalwart loyalty to Toyota amuses me. I am not saying all Toyotas are terrible or that they are the worst out there, I am simply saying that many other review places are much more neutral and reliable in their stances when it comes to automobiles.
Sorry, but this is wishful thinking. There is no bias at CR. In fact they go to great lengths to be unbiased; their credibility depends on it. They are simply reporting survey results.
I love the GC, but let's face it, there is a lack of attention to detail at Chrysler compared to other makes.

Yeah, my 02 was the most trouble free Jeep I've ever owned. Had to replace the transfer case seal a couple of times in 12 years. That was it.

I really haven't had a lot of issues with my 3.6L 14 so far so I'm pretty happy with that.

Yes, this is exactly right. Not a big difference between best and worst in these three-year reliability surveys - not enough for me to base a purchase decision on. If it were, I 'd be forced to buy a hideous looking Lexus.

Ive had my 16 willys for about a month, I see no initial quality issues as of yet, not a big fan of the tires, but it seems like a well built vehicle

Again you do not understand statistics.

For a survey to be unbiased, CR would have to send them out to (not just to subscribers) people at random and then publish the results.

And also need to label it as a survey which is far from quality data. If they want to pretend they have quality data they would need to do a tear down analysis on cars and compare to specifications the car is built to.

Here is a good one for you to show how incompetant CR is. I worked years back as EE in a lighting manufacturer. There are big 3, GE, Philips, GTE Sylvania. Any how CR did a expose on 60W A line Incandescent lamps.

Unfortunately they did not know a lot of contract manufacturing occured between the companies, ie due to capacity restrains one might contract to purchase product from the other for years In this case, the company I worked for was making the 60W for one of the other two. So the lamps were the exact same, same components, design, people on the same equipment. CR ranked ours last and the other guys first LOL They were the same lamp!
If they tested enough with IES stds on proper equipment, they would have had the same performance and life. Unfortuantely they didnt have a clue how to perform proper photometry and lifetest.

They have been caught in lies many times and have no credibility in my mind.

oh we had the article in lifetest area stapled on a bulletin board, and it was always funny when we did tours for distributors and customers and people would ask us about it. They were always shocked when we explained to them what it was about and how CR is a fraud!

Re: 2016 Jeep Predicted Reliability

I think you should simply buy what you like. I have had a 11' Laredo and now a '14 Limited and I really have loved both. They have both had some issues, but I put up with them b/c IMO there is no other SUV on the market that looks as good, or has the same features for the price. Almost every other SUV looks like a minivan to me now.

I was thinking of getting a 4 runner or a Highlander and although I knew those were both probably more reliable than my Jeep I could not get one. Jeeps drive different, look different, and simply put are cooler than the competition. That is why so many are sold. This is part of the problem though. So many people buy them and expect them to drive like a minivan and they don't. Whenever someone asks me my opinion on my Jeep I tell them the truth. I love it, but it's not without it's issues. So I always tell them it's not something I can recommend to the every day driver.

Re: 2016 Jeep Predicted Reliability

What issues did you have?

I had to have a couple of interior pieces replaced, they didnt fit correctly and were swapped out at the dealer, no big deal.

I bought the lifetime warranty because I keep my vehichles and see a lot of expensive electronics in the Jeep and that is what will eventually fail.

it is funny, they Jeep are having huge market share growth of 23% over last year. Must be doing something right.
