I would have to imagine there is a pretty solid reason why they are not doing so. Either they don't have the parts in volume yet, or they are still working out kinks in it, or something. Since almost all other manufacturers have car play, it is not doing them any favors to wait.

That said, I have a VW passat that has the top of the line "fender" radio in it. It looks and sounds good, but has a tragic flaw: when they designed the hardware they did so with a linux OS in mind. Later they swapped it out to a Windows based OS. But they did so after the hardware was locked in. The end result is that it doesn't quite have enough oomph to run the software right, this results in every thing having about 3-5 seconds of lag. Change the radio station, wait 5 seconds. Increase the volume, wait 5 seconds. It is HORRIBLE. So if Jeep needs another few months to dial in the car play radio and make sure it is right, that would be better than it being wrong....

I had one of those radios in my 2014 VW CC VR6.

Latest firmware update I applied helped with the UI latency quite a bit.

Also reported today that Hyundai has released CarPlay updates for some 2015 thru 2017 models. Hoping Jeep releases CarPlay for our head units in our WK2's

Is it odd that we (or at lease me) haven't seen any official company pictures of 2017 Laredo, Limited or Overland models?

Good to know that firmware updates helps. Of course, mines a diesel so will be getting a buyback in the next month or so anyway....

It's unlikely that there will be much of that until the official marketing launch...but there will likely be photos posted here by Milous before that when some actually become available. This is no different than in previous model year change overs...

Not sure yet if they will release any photos until September, still trying to find out if any will come out earlier.

Would a pic of the 2017 SRT Trackhawk do for the time being?

CarPlay and Android Auto require hardware compatibility, not just software/firmware. That's why it's now planned for introduction in the MY17 year...and it's a different system physically once it's released.

It does appear that Hyundai was planning ahead instead of playing catch up.

It will be interesting to see if any other manufacturers already have compatible hardware.
