Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am looking at getting a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have a 2014 Limited now.

While I can easily just move into a 2016 Limited, i'd like something a little different.

What are your thoughts on the Overland? Is it worth the big jump in price (nearly $6000)?

The dealer says that the 75th Anniversary Limited do not lease well and are actually more expensive than an Overland on a lease.

I had a 2014 Limited and just moved to a 2016 75th Anniversary Limited and got exactly what you are looking for! My experience indicates your dealer is full of @#%&@(. My 2016 was exactly $5k more in Sticker Price. My lease deal was exactly the same as my 2014 - 10k miles per year. I roll everything into my lease - all fees and taxes - just pay first month payment plus DMV. My 2016 lease is exactly $40 a month more than my 2014 lease. I have a 39 month lease - so basically this 75th Anniversary edition is costing me a total of $1,560 more after 39 months than my 2014. I'm pretty happy! Residual value of the 2016 is $2,474 higher than the 2014.

My lease is through a local credit union as the FCA lease isn't as good - perhaps that's the issue. May want to try another dealer.

I went from Limited to Overland. If you option the Limited as close as possible to standard Overland, the price difference is not that much. While I could certainly live fine without the leather dash, my wife loves the power folding mirrors! And the chrome shrub removal hooks on the front look sharp and work great!

Can you get the power folding mirrors on the limited? LUXII maybe? Or only on overland and up?

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Apparently not. (Standard mirrors for 2017 Limiteds are shown as PWR HTD MEM MULTI-FUNCTION MIRRORS (GUQ). I don't know what that is or whether it's any different from previous years.)

Fully optioned 2016 V6 4x4 Limited (Lux II, AT, OR2, Nav) lists out on Build & Price at $47,800. Similarly optioned Overland (AT, OR2, no HK) comes to $49,280. HK would add $995 to the Overland, not available on the Limited. 2017 delta is probably going to be about the same.

The HK is the one real temptation for me on the Overland. I just really hate the leather dash and stitching, the pretentious wooden steering wheel, and the lipstick-on-a-cow seat piping and Overland logos. (I think they remind me of years ago when I came home proudly sporting what my father immediately dismissed as a three-dollar shirt with a twelve-dollar alligator.)

You get a few other things for your additional 1,500 clams, notably including dual exhaust for the V6 and losing the plastic trim on the fenders. One thing to note is I've seen more than a couple complaints about the Overland's seats being uncomfortably firm; I don't recall ever having seen that particular complaint about any of the other trim models.

My dealer just told me their ability to order CRD's just disappeared. Anyone have a diesel trailhawk on order yet?

I think the plastic trim is still there, just painted.

They may have reached their allocation for the month...
