Shockwave will become famous soon enough
Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

What's the new transmission anyway? Are they testing it on only a couple models this year or something? Haven't really followed the convo on it since it doesn't pertain to what I want.

ZF 8HP75

What?! That is weird. The Pentastar needs it, if anything. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this???

Any word on CRD changes for 2017?

CRD is late availability, apparently because of the tranny. I doubt they wanted the entire line up to be late availability, so they try it out on the worst selling engine.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I ordered a 2017 a couple of weeks ago - Trailhawk 3.0 diesel in billet silver with the luxury package, the safety/tech group, and rock rails. This is a replacement for a nearly new Cherokee Trailhawk that was stolen and then crashed at the conclusion of a high speed chase... I kind of wish it had been totaled. Anyway, I'm certainly looking forward to the added capability, space, and the Diesel engine. I just hope I'm not waiting until winter!

I'll post some trail pics after I get it.

Did your dealer give you a VON?

She told me last week that a number was assigned, and she said today there was no change in vehicle status. I was a bit concerned because in reading several 'order threads' people who ordered diesels in July were still awaiting delivery in December; however, that was calendar year 2014 I think.

Here's the deal. If she wont give you the actual true VON then you do not truly have a vehicle scheduled for production. What you have is a place in line for when that dealer can use one of their allocations to then truly place your order. Happens all the time and customers think their order is placed when in fact the dealer is playing the "gotta string this customer along to keep them from going elsewhere" game. Trust me, this is a major tactic.

I want to be wrong or have misunderstood for your sake but I am concerned I am right.

When you get a VON sign up here for Premium Member status and Milous will track it for you. That tends to help with the antsy pants we all get waiting for our new toys.

From the first post in this thread, maintained by Milous:

EXF 3.0L CRD $4,500 ($4,005) (late availability)

I'm not sure they can place an order yet.
