Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Oh earlier you guys made it seem like all 2017 models get an updated tranny. So its just the diesel...well that doesn't matter then (to most people). Not only that, but the 8spd in the diesel was fine...Its the V6 I think guys wanted to hear about an update for.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I wonder if the new Transmission design will make it to the v8 and v6 models in the future or they are going to wait until 2019 for the new powertrains.

For awhile I was thinking of going with a later build 2017 but may just wait till 2018 and see what the new 2019 model is going to have. Thanks again to all the contributors to this thread

There's certainly the possibility for MY18, but for the new platform for MY19, things may be completely different. And there likely will be no V8 for MY19+ based on what's "known" so far.

Question Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Milous,
Thanks for the updates!

I am looking to order a 2017 summit 4x4. Please see below questions & any information on them would be greatly appreciated.

1.) Does anyone have a photo of the new Walnut Brown, Rhino, or crystal black pearl exterior paint colors And/Or know if both of these will be available on the Summit models?

2.) Is the new indigo/ gray laguna leather the only leather option in the summit that will be quilted? Or will all the leather seats available in the summit models now be quilted? (I want the Argentina leather seats, but would like to know if they will be quilted or not).

3.) Any update on the availability (late or not) of CarPlay for MY17? Will this be a software update?

4.) Will V6 have a manual override for the start/stop technology in case the owner does not want to have it on all the time?

5.) Does the 5.7 V8 have start/stop on them now as well?

6.) Is the "California Package" now considered the platinum package? or is th platinum package something else entirely?

So many questions, so little time to decide!

Thanks in advance to all contributors!

- John

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

1. No photos released yet for those colors. Rhino is Trailhawk only. Walnut Brown and Crystal Black will be available on the Summit.
2. Laguna only I believe, will have to double-check.
3. No updates. Next year at the earliest if they decide to offer it for the 2017 models.
4. It can be turned off during ignition cycles
5. No
6. Both are same

Trust me, this is a major tactic.

I want to be wrong or have misunderstood for your sake but I am concerned I am right.

When you get a VON sign up here for Premium Member status and Milous will track it for you. That tends to help with the antsy pants we all get waiting for our new toys.
I just went by our Jeep place and checked with my Jeep lady - I hope I'm good to go! I've got a VIN, a VON, and it's listed as " Status: D - Firm schedule: serial number is assigned."

Anyway, I'm certainly looking forward to the added capability, space, and the Diesel engine. I just hope I'm not waiting until winter!

I'll post some trail pics after I get it.
I hope this works out for you man. I am also interested in a diesel Trailhawk as an upgrade to my current rig. Looking forward to the pics.

Milous, some Trailhawk "included with" questions.

Does it include:
- 2 years of Jeep Wave?

- both passenger and cargo area slush mats?

- package shipped from Jeep with tow strap and other goodies like they do with Wranglers?

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

In regards to #4, Does that mean that every time you turn the vehicle on & off you have to turn off start/stop?

& let me know what you hear about quilted leather for argentina (that would be a bummer as I love the look but almost $5K isn't worth th package in my opinion).

Thanks!

Yes. Each time you start the vehicle, if you want to turn off the ESS, you have to press the button. Given this feature is likely to become ubiquitous across pretty much everything going forward, it may be worth just getting used to it. Many folks have reports that they almost don't notice it most of the time once they get used to it.

Jeep is now a European car company. The concept of freedom of choice is lost forever.

We saw the same thing with eco mode on the '14s
