Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wow just did a search for 2017 models within 500 miles of me and there are a ton with lot pictures. Common design theme between them seems to be ugly as f*ck! Just reinforces what I usually tell people, wheels can make the ugliest cars look great and the best looking ugly, the latter apply's in this situation. The front ends are horrible looking as well.

Are the old 20" polished aluminum wheels from previous years even an option anymore on 2017's?

I think a altitude or high altitude blacked out model will fit these 2017 design schemes much better than the rest. I wonder if they do in fact have an altitude and high altitude modrlek whether or not they change the design of the black wheels for those as well.

If I don't hear anything about a 2017 altitude or high altitude by October/November , I think the pictures I saw of the 2017 models will force me to buy one of the remaining 2016 HA's.

Almost looks like my 16 HA, only not quite as nice.

If I had granite would go with hyper silver or black chrome, but think these gloss black should look pretty good with my diamond black. Almost went HA but wanted sienna tan interior. Wish they had the HA with other interior colors

Ok so still no mention of High Altitude? So that's it, just 2 years and gone?

Not even 2 years It made a late debut in 2015 and MY16 was a short production year.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I was new to Jeep Garage just before the '14s were introduced. If you go back in time and believe what you read back then, the redesign of the JGC was going to put Jeep out of business. Nobody would buy the new model. It wasn't long before they couldn't keep up with demand.

Same thing happened with the 'new' Cherokee. Some wanted to hang Sergio by his thumbs for calling it a Jeep.

It will be interesting to see how the '17 is accepted (or not) 3 or 4 months from now.

I'm heading to Koons in the morning. By noon I will either be anxiously awaiting my newly ordered Jeep, or checking out some other brands.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The '17 is barely changed yet significantly worse. Main components of the car are the same (headlights, no led tail lights, body style for the most part) yet they managed to completely murder the vehicle with terrible rim choices across the lineup and mismatched headliners for the interiors.

Atleast the new Cherokee was a bold design shift. The '17 they put clown makeup on a supermodel and told us she looks better

This is 100% spot on for me. I detested the 14 when it came out and I owned my 11 - then a few months later it grew on me and I traded Overlands. The 17 summit to me looks the most polished and I liked it right off the bat - think the changes are definitely for the better on that model. I can definitely see how the new front end fits the Trailhawk too and looks great, but do agree that the base model 17 are a step backward. Even the Overlands look like they are dripping in chrome now with that new grille. Don't think I would have gone to a 17 Overland at the moment, but very excited for the new clean lines of the Summit (minus the grandma wheels - lol)

FYI. I did a test drive on a MY16 HA and Summit a couple weeks ago. During both drives I went over wide speed bumps at exactly 13 mph. The HA had 1.5 bounces and the 16 Summit did 3 bounces. Driving the 17 Summit this morning over the same speed bumps, it bounced only 1.5 times. It seems the the 17 Summit suspension is a bit tighter.

Suspension parts list as being the same if they were indeed MY16 and MY17s (air suspension - wise), so...that's interesting.

Notably, the air suspension parts (spring/shock assembly, etc) DID change from MY14/15 to MY16/17.

My opinion on the Cherokee hasn't changed.

The best looking 2017 IMO would be the Trailhawk with the 20's but no standard suspension is a deal killer for me. I'll be waiting for the 2nd year of the JL.

I am planning on a Summit with the new interior that everybody seems to hate. The wheels don't bother me one way or the other as I only look at them when I wash the car. Ivory Tri-Coat and the lightest interior for me. And a HEMI!
