Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

To the average buyer the 2017 looks pretty much the same as the '14-'16 models. Only us forum geeks dig into things this deeply. The '17 will be a fine seller I'm sure and I agree in a few weeks all of us will have accepted the slight redesign and like it. However, since it doesn't blow me away it does make me feel a little better about my '15....and the fact that they don't even make the High Altitude anymore

That's what I'm hoping. The only thing we haven't agreed on so far is the trade in value. Craig said they use KBB but came up a couple of thousand short based on condition and low mileage. That was sight unseen, so tomorrow I will have them look at the car and see what they say. It should be about a 2 1/2 ride, but my Escape gets great mileage and as Aaron Tippin sang, 'there ain't nothing wrong with the radio'.

I like the sky interior - it's the price of it that makes me dislike it a bit - lol

Even better. It means the HA will be more desirable and hold its value better than most other WK2.

Besides FCA might have loss money creating the HA instead of having the customer purchase the parts separately.

As James said above most people wouldn't know the difference so I highly doubt you'll see a premium over what other sub models sell for.

I also highly doubt the FCA lost any money on the HA. You really think more people will buy the parts over the model? I think that's a little far fetched.

Jeep management while not perfect, ain't no dummies. If they have these "specialty" trim levels every year, they are no longer special. Then, those that buy them won't feel special anymore.

If it does help them hold their value better (probably not) that is a big plus for the customer.

That's the thing though, blacked out vehicles have been gaining popularity for years and now you see them everywhere from all brands. For Jeep to discontinue it would unwise on their part. I mean really, how hard it is it for them to add blacked out badges , trim pieces and black wheels to a summit body. I know there are other differences on the interior based on the overland but even still, just forget all all that an add a blacked out option to every model in the lineup, even if it is only blacked out badges, trim and wheels.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Was really hoping to upgrade to an Overland when my lease is up in February but not a fan of the new grille/ wheel options. Looks like I'll be buying my lease out at this point, disappointing but maybe it will grow on me.

To me it looks like someone wearing a well tailored suit to a black tire event with a pair of strappy European man sandels. They just look out of place because they're so busy and cleaning them is another thing. What a big PITA getting between all those spokes. I don't like settling for anything with my cars but wheels is near the top of the list. I'd need to swap them out immediately for some OEM's from a previous year.

Less is more to me but everyone has their own tastes.

What's so ironic is that you can get a Durango at any level with a blackout package - the blacktop I believe

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This is great! with all you guys hating how the '17s look, that just means more will be available for me . I agree that chrome on new cars should be used sparingly for accents or trim, but these just have too much and it makes them look cheap. I actually like the grill, but without the chrome, which is why I'm looking to get the CRD Trailhawk. I'm curious to try out those bolstered seats too.
