Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I just got a postcard the other day that offered $500 Bonus Cash Allowance on new 2016 or 2017 JGC with a 3 October 2016 expiration date. I'm guessing this was sent to owners based on the way my name was listed in the address. The offer isn't transferable other than to immediate family members in the same household.

^^^ nice! When I had spider monkey wheels I really liked them, but they suck for cleaning!!! Those little openings are ridiculous to get your fingers in. I have my stock high altitude wheels back on and sooooooo easy to clean :-)

I would think you would have to be real close and I wouldn't be willing to try it on anything.
The way I park my vehicle in the garage I'll trip the front and all 4 corner sensors in the process of pulling in or backing out. The display lights up and beeps like a freakin' pinball machine. It'll start applying the brakes but since I'm already starting to apply them myself that'll override the full stop. And I stop the vehicle myself before the system decides if it needs to.

So it seems to work quite well and I like it, although I don't have the guts to try it to the point of finding out whether it'll actually stop the vehicle on its own. That's too much of a risk for me.

I have it with just the lights an beeps. My garage doors are offset by about 6 feet. So in addition to the warnings that are triggered by being close the the door frame, it picks up the extended portion of the garage as cross traffic. That sets off an additional audible alarm and light on the dash. The dash warning tells me which direction the "garage" is coming from.

I park the GC at an angle in my garage. Makes it easier with the curve of my driveway. So for me, I have the garage door frame, the garage wall, my Cubby garden tractor and the rear quarter of my Accord to squeeze by.

So of the 6 sensor locations shown in the driver's display, I can set off 5 of them at one time... hence my pinball machine reference above. And that doesn't include the cross path indicators in the mirrors, which I didn't even think about.

What good are warnings if you are going to ignore them?

Be careful out there!

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I like that the new overland has the led fogs. Something I'd love in mine. I just don't want to spend $500 on fog lights lol

I have to say though... the rims? (On the overland) not my taste. Look like pickup rims.

While I feel the XC90 is decent looking, the 4 cylinder engine (I don't care what the horsepower/torque is) doesn't belong in anything that heavy. Plus it sounds awful and as many mags have stated, the thing always sounds like its working so hard to move that heavy thing. They should also offer a V6 with a turbo in that heavy vehicle. All I ever see is really old people driving Volvo's. I doubt that will ever change.
