I intend to. I suspect a reason they finally broke down and made it available on the V6 is the Trailhawk, on which it appears to be standard. They didn't want that model running around out there without ELSD/QD2.

And the Trailhawk may be the only one it's allowed on. But from 99-16 it was never offered with the V6, for whatever reason. What magically changed that they're allowing it now? That's what I'm curious to know.

In my opinion, there should be NO Jeep GC's running around without it. And when I say QD, I'm not referring to today's neutered version.

agree that's what I am wondering also. since QDII for the v6 was a typo for 2017 and the v6 doesn't get it except for trailhawk v6? or was trailhawk v6 a typo also? If it truly is on v6 17MY trailhawk then it cant be that far of a reach technically or they wouldn't do it. if its technically feasible on v6 seems strange they would keep it as a trailhawk only and not an option on other v6. after all the v8/diesel summits get it as standard and always have and they are your luxury onroad cruisers so not like QDII is some special exclusive off road only feature. something is not making sense to me here

Maybe with its improved low end torque the revamped 3.6L meets whatever threshold the engineers required for QD2?

true but then why not offer it on my17 v6 summit which gets the same v6 as my17 trailhawk since v8 summit gets QDII standard

But don't they compensate for that by offering the airy, quilted seats?

I had QD in my 99 and 02 with the 4.7L V8. That produced 235hp with 295ft-lbs of torque. Compared to my 14's 3.6L of 290/260. Granted, the 14-16's are heavier but would a max 35ft-lbs difference in their respective power bands make the difference? Seems like that the torque difference would get eaten up making a heavier vehicle move.

I might drive by the dealer later to see that grandma infused touch to the new summits. I have a feeling ill choke when I see the price of a summit platinum CRD bluray with grandmas quilt work.

Maybe, but that's the only explanation I recall seeing for why it wasn't offered on the V6.

Bill told me that he's hoping to snag a hot grandma with those quilted seats he's ordering.

(Sorry Bill, I couldn't resist. )
