Interesting.
The ZF transmission is the reason the Hemi and the diesel cost so much.

Yes
Early MY2014 8HP70 were ZF built in Germany. Later MY2014+ 8HP70 were ZF built in USA. The good thing ZF continues to build those. 845RE in the v6 is a different story it was a ZF design that FCA mucked with and FCA builds those in Indiana and of course those were the problem prone ones.

My MY2014 hemi was one of the early Germany built 8HP70s trans. Hemi option then was $2695 on summit. I always thought it was a bargin to be able to go from a v6 to a v8 on a 55k vehicle for $2695. Not to mention that $2695 also included Upgrade to ELSD which was an $800 dollar option on its own.

I've been reading more about these. It seems the reason Chrysler made some changes to the design wasn't to accommodate the vehicle, but to accommodate the manufacturing equipment that Chrysler had in the plant.

Yes, but it was $1,695 with a $1,000 rebate before that and then $1,995. Marlon who builds Grand Cherokees has mentioned that the ZF speed is costly for Chrysler to purchase. ELSD is not included with the Hemi purchase unless you get a Summit which has a higher option cost for the Hemi to include the cost of ELSD.

Bill better post pics of his quilted interior when he gets it. I want to see what he's going to be parking his rear on.

You guys think you are so funny. Well let me tell you, when those quilted seats attract a few hot grandmas in the Walmart parking lot, I'll be in seventh heaven. You guys can eat your hearts out!
