Often times said information comes my way sporadically, never all at once. And typically there are some decisions made much closer to launch, such as finalized colors.

As far as I know, the most significant changes have been revealed (perhaps save for the CRD). Have not seen info on any new interior/exterior colors yet. Not aware of any performance increases for the Hemi, but info such as HP numbers is never known until close to launch as testing and certification is not completed until then. I'm confident that I could rule out any significant changes for the Hemi.

Out of curiosity, how far ahead of production is the configuration locked down to make the schedule? It looks like current info still has the line starting up in July so I would assume we are pretty close to that time. It is pretty amazing if they can still take changes in the next month or two and still have time to get the line ready for them.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

GreyJeep, the way the Jeep line works, it's not all that significant to flow from one model year to the next since it's the same platform. It's more of a supply chain thing and making sure the programming for the minor differences, if any, are in place and successful with pilot vehicles run through in advance. There's not likely anything about MY17 that would require a delay like there was for MY16. (a new engine that wasn't ready to go earlier for example) So you can expect that baring any unforeseen circumstances, the planned schedule is most likely going to hold.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wanting a '17 GC, but wondering if I should wait a few weeks (or months) after initial production begins to make sure I receive any surprise improvements to latter units as happened with the '14s - after I ordered mine early in that production year. Mainly concerned about the 4th gen UConnect with Apple CarPlay - really looking forward to that, but not sure I can trust Chrysler to install the best/most updated hardware from the outset of production.

Sorry - I didn't mean to insinuate it would be delayed at all. Just curious how long they give themselves to lock down before the scheduled startup - for the exact reason you gave of getting the supply chain all in place and the updated procedures, work orders, etc... I realize some parts they can probably be a little more nimble on than others and the changes are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but it is a large operation and a lot of items to get ready simultaneously.

Can't miss what you never had. Plus it will take Chrysler at least till the new redesigned 2019 Grand Cherokee to get the bugs out.

Yup. It took a few updates to get the bugs worked out of my '14. I'm fine with streaming music from my phone to the current system.

I have it on good authority that they ran a '17 SRT and '17 Summit this week. So, at least we know they are thinking about it.
