They're all like the insurance companies rate calculators. Yeah they'll give you a quote, after you put in all your personal information so they can call and email you your "personalized quote". Nothing's easy anymore.

As a reference point, jeep charges $995 destination charge which is delivery to the dealer. To ship from Koons, you're essentially paying that twice, but gives you an idea of where you should be locally to get a comparable deal.

Craig can probably give you a ballpark number....I'd guess $500-900. A one-way cheap flight into Dulles or Regan and a long weekend to drive home may be more cost effective in all honesty, if it looks like it will be toward the upper end of that cost.

My plan is to drive up there to pick mine up and leave my old Yukon at Carmax.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The 19 hour drive from D.C. to Dallas wouldnt be terrible. Thats basically the drive from Orlando to Dallas when I first moved here.

Putting 1,300 miles on my brand new vehicle in 24 hours is where my issue resides.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

There was a dealer in Texas - Dallas I think - that was doing a group buy that was within a few hundred bucks of the Koons deal. It was 5.5% off invoice, but once you add back in Koons's $599 fee to their 7% off, it comes darn close to that.

AFAIK the TX dealer is not doing a group buy anymore, but if you identified who they are you might be able to work something with them.

I actually went to that dealer when I purchased my '15 Overland. Got a great deal and the process was a breeze. Theyre down in Houston. The guy I purchased from no longer works there but it would definitely be worth a call.

Three hours is a lot more manageable than 19 hours and 1300 miles. Koons just seems like so much less hassle.

Others have mentioned some of this but here is my experience.

I bought my '14 Summit there and the numbers were very close to Koons. They only charge a $125 doc fee and Koons charges their $599 (or is it $699?) group buy fee that is inclusive of a doc fee. So that fee difference made the Koons deal more like 6% so it's nearly wash when not considering other factors like travel/ship costs...for me my son goes to UT-Austin so that was my reason for going that direction to make it a road-trip vacation with him on the way back...would have been fun

I had intended to fly down and drive it back but had an unplanned surgery to fix a blown out wrist so the pain meds forced me to have it shipped. I used the dealers' recommended shipper and it was smooth and drama free...cost $795 to ship Houston to Cleveland on multi-car open transport.

I did this and drove back to Oklahoma (1250 miles). I didn't want to take delivery of a car that I hadn't placed my eyes on and that's why I decided to drive back. In hindsight I could have probably went and looked at it, then had it shipped back and fly home. That option would have cost way more than twice the $600 I spent flying to BWI, 2 nights in hotel, meals, and gas.
