No, it's not an option. Summit is marketed as a Lux ride. But you can add the other items yourself if you want. The tow hooks are the one piece that requires some work, because the Summit fascia doesn't have the removable panels...you have to cut it out manually.

That's a lot of work to get those Sienna Brown leather seats, and most certainly getting into Wrangler mod territory thanks for the tip! I had a feeling the non removable panels would be the most challenging to overcome. For me there's often an option missing for these specific models. For me the perfect Trail Rated Overland/Trailhawk beast would be an eco-Diesel based GC with Sienna brown seating, LED/bi xenon hid head/fog lights, 900 Watt Harman Kardon audio combined with a little less outside chrome bling, Mopar Rock rails, and those wonderful red tow hooks

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Aside from dealing with the fascia, "rolling your own" off road package for the Summit that's the equivalent to the factor option on trims where its' available is pretty much plug and play. There's nothing mechanically different. You're talking skids, tow hooks and, if you choose, changing the wheels/tires. The plastic badge is marketing. Oh, if you're going to do a V6, you will apparently be missing the QD with ELSD on the Summit for MY17, despite them offering it in the Trailhawk. So that might be of consideration.

And the skid plates are now a factory option on the Summit. I know in '14 they were not.

Is there any benefit to going with a lease? $80 more a month to me is ano brainer to just buy it instead. If the lease was like $300 or something I may consider it lol.

Started looking at a couple other cars as well. Jaguar f-pace looks pretty nice with the right wheels/paint. The infinity q60 is also pretty nice.
Low mileage lease is great for those who can write it off for business and fit into the mileage guide lines.

My Overland priced around 49k. Dealerships are discounting them with incentives for around $5-6k off. A lease will be well under $500 a month plus your not taking the depreciation hit after 3 years when the redesigned 19's come out. Your drive off including 1st months payment will be about 10%.

You have the option to buy or walk at the end of the lease and Jeep will throw incentives to keep you a lease holder.

For some it works, for others it doesn't.

If you trash your vehicles and like to do mods along with racking up the miles a lease isn't for you.

P.S. The F Pace is amazing but pricing it out of the "budget model" will take you to $60k in a hurry

Actually you do take a depreciation hit. It's built into the residual unless they are keeping the residual artificially high as an incentive.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Well, even more succinct...the lease "amount" IS the expected depreciation of the vehicle over the lease term. And yea, it can be manipulated by adjusting the residual to make it look more attractive even if the effective cost of money is moved up in the background to cover it. Leases can be tricky and it's very important to understand all the numbers involved. Sometimes getting that information can be a bit of work...

I know the Tech Package could have been added to an Overland for $2K. But for a few $$s more, thought I would just get the Summit. Also, I like the Siena Brown interior in the Summit better than the black in the Overland. Al

And with the cost of borrowing money near zero, or in some cases actually zero, makes it difficult to justify a lease in this economic environment unless you're just trying to hit a specific monthly payment amount.
