Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

What I was asking in the earlier post was if the HUGE update wouldn't be for another 3-5 years (totally new with the Giorgio platform). I do assume they will make changes, some significant perhaps, if they keep the current platform (with some modifications of course) for the next 2-4 years. In other words, we'd really get a "WK3" until the Giorgio platform is used (WL)??? Perhaps it is all semantics.

No, they will put flipper glass on the MY19 and then take it away after 2 years.

If they put in a foot operated flipper glass we will have a dozen threads complaining that folks can't get their foot up high enough to press the button.

I suspect that would have to wait for the next gen plaform due to development costs...the next gen platform that looks like the target has that capability for the high-end Alfa SUV debuting for MY18.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

When I was car shopping my JGC vs a Ford with the foot activated tailgate, I mentioned to the Jeep sales guy how I really thought that was a great idea. He told me that if you back up over a snow bank then snow can get inbetween that sensor and disable it. He told me this when I was car shopping...In texas...in summer. Solid sales strategy

That could happen. Then you either have press a button in the handle or on the key fob. I had it for the past 2 years between my '14 and '17. I didn't use it often, but at times it came in very handy.

The ford version comes from a German company and I'd bet Jeep will eventually buy the same one. I think the park assist is the same one Ford uses.

Hi joeyo,

If I may ask, which Max Care Plan did you get?

I picked my Overland up and just haven't had time to post about it and the experience in the review thread at Koons, but I intend to.

Ha, too busy, arent we all, but drove over to Koons and got it a couple weeks ago.

I went with the 5yr/60k plan; I don't intend to keep it for 5 years because I never keep them longer than 3, but wanted the higher mileage because I drive a lot.

Do you think Car Play can get flashed into a 2017 if implemented for 2018?

Probably not. I think it requires updated head units.
