I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the end of MY16 isn't historically late, but it got started quite late making the year short. The two reasons I have heard (again, not 100% sure) is that the new V6 redesign to allow for start/stop and the new shifter weren't ready. YMMV as I am not aware of any definitive source stating the exact reasons, or even if it was planned to be a short year on purpose.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

MY16 was shortened largely due to the ability to roll out the new V6 engine, etc. This isn't something "unusual". MY13 was also a short model year, albeit it started at the "normal" time and ended early with the introduction of MY14 in about March of 2013. MY15 was extended this time around until they could build MY16 as intended. MY17 and MY18 are likely to be "normal" model years, although the latter could go longer, depending on when they are actually ready with the all-new platform for MY19.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I like the look of the new Summit. I just think the black grille makes it look more sporty than the luxurious top of the line model. As for others are saying, I think JTS said something a long the lines of... "these wheels look like they come from the Durango Citadel". The new interior color all I can say is WOW. I'm truly blown away by it.

I agree, the Summit looks amazing. As much as I hate white inside and out as its not very practical with small kids, this one looks very classy and luxurious hopefully they don't jack up the prices like RR or other euro brands do.

Not a fan at all of the quilted trim on the seats and the doors.

I agree not a fan of the grandmother quilt in my jeep, it reminds me of a quilt on my grandmothers bed or something like that.

Exterior changes to the body front end look good though, cleaned up the look of it.

I'm curious what the price bump is going to be. A diesel summit with bluray is already touching 60k. They start going to far north of that its going to start loosing that "good buy for what you get for the money" which is one reason the GC appeals to many people. Still some ways to go before they start bumping up against comparable premium label costs but the gap is closing.

I'm sure you can get regular leather seats in the Overland which can be optioned up to equal a Summit.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Looks good I like it! I think it'll be a hit. I wouldn't get gray interior, but I bet the others will look awesome. The Durango wheels fit the Summit good, but for anal car detail guys they will be a bit of work to clean.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm surprised nobody caught the button by the select terrain dial. On the trail hawk its a flat off road with a cruise symbol and on the summit its the downhill cruise symbol. Is this like the crawl control on the Toyota's? I'm still surprised they don't have a selectable rear locker on the trail hawk like its little brother the Cherokee.

Edit:I found my own answer. Looks like the Trail hawk will offer more than I thought it would-

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Ok I cant hold it in anymore. That interior is terrible.
Diamond stitching goes on the inside and not the outside of seats and you don't pair it with perforated leather.
...and wtf is up with the hub cap wheels?
I don't mind the new front fascia and shifter but the rest of the changes need to go.

I had been trying to sway my wife towards a Summit to replace her current car but after one look at the 2017 "updates?" I've thrown that option off the table and into the recycling bin.
