But what package would that be? The spec sheet says that the California package gets you 'Satin Carbon painted' wheels while there are wheels with 'Platinum finish' available.

This is from the new MY17 spec sheet:

Standard on Summit:

Polished machined cast-aluminum, twin 5-spoke (Satin Carbon painted with
California Edition)

Available on Summit:

Polished Machine cast-aluminum with platinum finish

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm still trying to figure out why the press-announcement reads

'Jeep's Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with ELSD is standard on all Summit models'

although the spec-sheet also shows a 4x2 Summit....

>>>New: Fourth-generation Uconnect systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ (possible late availability)

Does 'late availability' mean I won't get it if I pre-order a 2017 or that I can get it later with a software update?

(in general) My prediction is that every Trailhawk produced will be sold and sold quickly.

Clearly "you" can be very satisfied by the Laredo E and that's absolutely a valid choice. But there are plenty of folks who want Overland, High Altitudes, Trailhawks and Summits. The market is large and JGC is about the best seller on the market in it's price range including at the top end of the trim levels.

And to be fair, Trailhawk isn't for "me", either. It's nice to have choices!

AND, I see, Jim we are pretty much in agreement except for perhaps the "demand for" and wether or not this Trailhawk will see "real action" off road. I gotta admit that if I had the dough to splurge, I could see myself behind the wheel far off on the beaten paths in National Parks & Public Lands trying to find those Rivers and Lakes rarely fished by humans, where the vistas are surreal and the sunsets assumn !

I think they take a long term risk when ignoring it.
Jeep wants us to "buy" into Trailhawk being THE most capable off road G.C. ever. It sure seems that it should be based on the Press Release and Specs. I have no grip with Jeep really, it's just . . . well I can't grasp the idea of "why?". Ego for some perhaps? It is Clear (to me) that who ever buys one, will not be going to the same places serious Wrangler off roaders go! And yea I get that; they're not intended too. Time & Timing have passed Me by now, so the wanting of a cool & capable Rubicon have faded, and the "desire" for some capability with comfort seem more appropriate. With my cost limitations I have determined the more basic Laredo E with a boost (off road adventure 1 option) is what I desire now. The Cherokee (9 speed woes?) is a bit too small especially coming off a Ram 1500 for 12 years. Only regret is the Laredo won't have a rear locker, but heck I'm not a maniacal rock crawling risk taker either!

Darn, I new somebody was gonna question that, even though I was in denial.
Honestly I can't remember the site, but it IS a well respected one and also seeing as how it has been discussed here about its placement in the model lineup you could surmise the cost too !? If the "source" is wrong, I guess I am guilty for passing along bad info.
My guess is it will be close. Milous, care to "speculate" for the benefit of all?

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Should I assume the Lane Assist feature is a "passive" system (just warnings) or is it "active" (steering correction).

A quick glance at our local dealers page for 2016 GC's shows 6 Laredos, 47 Limiteds, 24 Overlands and 3 Summits. I don't see a whole lot of Laredos out on the road, and I used to have one. I don't think a whole lot of people here are looking at them, and once you start adding options, the cost gets pretty close to a Limited. I upgraded to a '14 Limited pretty quick, 13 months after buying the '12 Laredo, with my 2016 being a loaded 75th Limited - the only thing I don't have on mine is Advanced Tech. I considered an Overland, since the cost of mine got pretty damn close, but, I liked the 75th looks better and the only thing I would have "gained" was the HK audio.
AGAIN, so true around my way too. I agree, and still wonder why? We are all so different aren't we? What we like what we don't? I think perhaps the Laredo and perhaps even the Laredo E may be going as did the Dodo Bird (extinct)! Fact is I LIKE/Prefer the simpler/less complicated/less techie variety of ANY vehicle. To me less is more, and with less, less can go wrong, especially with all the computer electronic motoring overlap. Just me just saying. Don't beat me over the head with this, OK? I want nothing but success for The Jeep Brand.

Should be the same as what's in the current Cherokee...you should be able to find plenty of info about that.

Thanks. I didn't realize the Cherokee had it already.
