Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Carplay is important to me because it pretty much brings a seamless integration of iOS to your Uconnect system. Uconnect is no doubt the best system out there I feel for stock systems in autos, but it will never match either Android or iOS since we use those as part of our daily routines.

As far as carplay itself, it still needs some polish but we will not be 100% limited to Uconnect having to be updated to get new features. Apple routinely delivers small updates to carplay with each iOS update, lately with more features being added to each one. No, Uconnect will not get all these features that are added as the system itself would need to be updated, but some will pass through without this having to be done. In reality we could still be getting Carplay updates years down the road while we are still stuck on the last update that Uconnect gave for our model version years earlier.

Messaging, Ipod integration, voice calls will all be thoroughly better through carplay than currently had with the stock system no matter how good it is.

Either way, for me being so close to MY17 I can't pass it up as i would regret it immediately. If I am going to be driving this thing for the next 5-10yrs the 2-3k premium i will pay for it over buying a 2016 is worth it to me.

To keep things in perspective listen to Brian Tong's webcast about CarPlay beginning at 23:00. This is what Apple envisions for the near future. There is no question there is going to be integration of iOS into cars, but I think the technology is in it's infancy. We'll be into a whole new Uconnect version before there is deeper integration. I think the best we can expect for now is navigation and voice integration. You have to decide it that's worth the extra money for now.

Rainy Sunday here in GA. Decided to do a little photoshop and render the 2017 GC SRT from that bumper that was shared a few days ago.

I thought the same thing. Lol but that is actually what the front bumper that Scott shared looked like. The proportions may be off though.

Thanks! They are finally giving the SRT a more dedicated/recognizable front end look to set it even more apart from the lower models. I kind of wish they had kept the running lights in the middle of bumper, though.

It's funny, but to me that satin chrome trim finish on the California Edition Summit reminds me of beat up scratched faded chrome trim. No thanks.

It also has that huge mouth like on Lexus and Toyota vehicles. Very unattractive.

This is what too much chrome reminds me of - no thanks.

And this is what the whole black wheels etc. thing reminds me of. Cheap.

Different strokes for different (younger) folks.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Made it to the NY Auto show today - love the trailhawk and am definitely interested in one. Pricing wasn't listed so I am curious where it will fall in the Limited/Overland/Summit pricing. Also curious how it will feel because of the adjusted air suspension compared to the standard air. It is a really awesome looking car though.

Also checked out the 75th anniversary and in person it is awesome. The bronze trim looks great.

Last stop was to check out the new summit - couldn't sit in it but saw the rims in person and they look much better than in pictures. The chrome wasn't shiny and the wheels actually looked great. Could see some of the new leather as well, love the gray and I have seen stitching like that on some Audi's. Not my favorite but doesn't look bad. On the gray it wasn't too offensive, I imagine on darker material it will stand out too much though.

Love the jeeps, really want to get one. My last was a 96 with 5.2L V8. I loved that car.
