Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

My Opinionated Commentary For all those who are micromanaging their what & when to buy a Dream WK2, including me (Especially Me!) - time marches on . . . ! You all seem to "want" "things" that make this or any vehicle more complex . . . more is not necessarily better ? But I do understand, just as in the way that I WANT Less in my WK2. FOR instance, heated seats & steering wheel, leather seats, 18" wheels, and "for the love of God," Chrome (inside or Out) ? Coming to this site sure has given me an updated perspective on Humanity too !
As I told Marlon, basically I Ain't getting any younger waiting for "perfection," cause it just isn't gonna happen. So I HAVE made my decision on wether to buy a WK2 '16 75th Laredo or '17 Laredo E - either will certainly be 4X4 with ORA1 and probably Tow Package, and that is about it (from the factory) ! Only wish the Factory offered Mopar Side Rails (either style) as an option or part of the ORA1 ! (hint, but too late for me). Drum role please . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
and the winner is . . . the 75th Laredo in Recon, wish it came in Brownstone ! See what I mean . . . can't wait forever, my health is declining, and I want to go "de-clining down yonder hills and valleys where the rivers flow . . . ain't nothing more peaceful at night than a "babbling brook".
WHY? Like the new look, like the lack of chrome (bronze, yea), like the 8.4", like the new seat material (Dark Gray 2-tone), like the new shifter, liking the PUG (hoping it doesn't become a lemon!) !
Don't care for the 18" wheels (looks Good, but 17's with 70 sides much better for ORAs, which is why I had asked "the most interesting man" about the feasibility of the 17" Wrangler 75th wheels/tires as a Dealer SWAP !
So, there you have it, thanks to the UNCERTAINTY ABOUT WHAT WILL OR WON'T BE FOR THE 2017 (we are certain chrome outside will always be ?).
I'll find out from the dealer (or here) the last possible time to order this, and get on down the road ! Many Pictures to follow . . . hopefully.

OK, were you able to read it ALL . . .

It's that lawn . . . It's too perfect, way to perfect ! I wager that you sir are a "perfectionist," is this true ? Much in the way I am a "neat-freak"- guessing !
Oh, and by the way your "baby" looks, there in the driveway!
Hope your right about the carryover look into '17, but as you may of read (above?) I'm going with "the sure thing" ! Not really one who wagers on anything (well not anymore these days, ha ha).

It won't get you into your car . . . ! Any old timers remember the Song Title that these words come from ? ('60's).
Anything I may of needed from an RA4 I'll just plug in my new iPAD into the Laredo's RA3 and have an even Bigger (& Portable) NAV screen, WIFI & Cellular capability . . . ! "Just Saying!"

Think the difference with some of us are we are buying their top of the line models, so don't think it is too much to expect close to perfection when spending $50k

To each his own, but I have no desire to settle at this point

This is exactly how I feel about it too. Hence why I have looked at other brands as options. The XC90 R Design is on the shortlist if there is no carplay on the GC.

Yes it is. Price is the only downside when compared to the Grand Cherokee in my case.

This is what I am considering:

This is what I am considering:

Man - those have come a LONG way from their rolling box days haven't they?! I built almost that exact same, but in black. Also spec'ed out an F Pace, but price got way too rich for what I would want.

Audi's now days are too vanilla, not a Benz or BMW fan and Lexus are starting to look like boy racer SUVs

...c'mon Jeep - don't let us down!

Oh - and have to add no Rover given I have a friend right now that is going through hell on their brand new Land Rover - from sales to service has been abysmal

They sure are beautiful inside and out, that's why I keep going back to them. I spec'ed an F Pace too but as you said, price went up to much for what I would want.

I'm still hoping that Jeep comes through and saves me some money to instead use for mods later on

Still trying to gather information, but from what I know so far the CarPlay/Android *might* require the new 4th gen radios. My radio supplier source is still showing the current "RA3/RA4" radios for the 2017 Grand Cherokee models.

So far, there are a couple other 2017 FCA vehicles (non-Jeep) that are showing the new series radios, and are 100% confirmed to have Carplay/Android.

I have removed the CarPlay/Android info from the "future" features list until I can 100% confirm if and when it will be offered in the Grand Cherokee. It's still possible it could end up being a running change during the 2017 model year.
