So far, there are a couple other 2017 FCA vehicles (non-Jeep) that are showing the new series radios, and are 100% confirmed to have Carplay/Android.

I have removed the CarPlay/Android info from the "future" features list until I can 100% confirm if and when it will be offered in the Grand Cherokee. It's still possible it could end up being a running change during the 2017 model year.

Good to know! May I ask who you are exactly? You seem to be the man with info here

Do you work at a FCA/Jeep factory maybe?

Volvo looks nice but to me I just screams business man or soccer mom. Grand Cherokees have just enough of a mean look to them that they avoid both of those labels.

Congrats on your decision. I think you know this, but f you want the 75th Anniversary Edition based on the Laredo it will be like buying a Laredo E with some special feature stuff. (The base Laredo has zero packages available, one additional wheel choice and UConnect 5.0 as the only available options and only a few color choices. It's a fleet vehicle for the most part)

You can work out how you want to configure things on the Jeep.com "build and price" for JGC and then use the pricing information at wk2jeeps.com to figure out your invoice cost to help with "shopping . The 75th Edition is listed separately in the choices from both Laredo and Laredo E so you configure it like it's a separate trim level.

As long as you don't have HD brakes you can likely use the 17" wheels you mention, but if you do anything with your configuration that adds the HD brakes, 18" is where you'll want to stay to insure clearance between the wheel and the brakes.

I agree. Someone at the barn where we have our horses got one...and had to drive a loaner for the first month because the entertainment system wasn't working from the factory... (It is very nice looking, however, with the new design)

Some folks are True Jeep "loyalists" and others "shoppers".
Personally, when I look at the Simple, user friendly Jeep center stack and then at most of the other - Audi, Volvo, BMW . . . there are so many small buttons and small knobs and usually they share an equally small (even tiny) screen !
What's up with that ? Not a question, just an observation for your own (private) thought ! By now most know I am NOT a luxury kind of guy,
wether out of need or necessity (truth is even if I had the $$$$, my personal genetic makeup couldn't allow me to "self-confuse" via the
"Overly-business-ness" of those other vehicles !
I love making up word phrases ! Recon Green here I come !

It is not just about the head unit. But man is it nice Yes the head unit comes into the decision, but the overall package that the XC90 offers is what is grabbing my attention and all the tech that comes with it. I love the GC and would love to get another one, Jeep is just falling a little behind with the updates to the GC and the XC90 is the best next thing for me at a somewhat reasonable price.

This: Grand Cherokees have just enough of a mean look to them that they avoid both of those labels.

That is why I love my current GC. It is not your soccer mom SUV. It has an aggressive enough look that makes it, for lack of a better word, manly. Plus its very easy to make it your own with a few mods. I have never been a car guy, always SUVs. The other SUVs in the market dont really grab my attention as much as the GC or the XC90 do. I would prefer the Jeep. So maybe it will get the updated radio by the time I am really looking to update at the end of the year.

JIM ! Know this ? Been living / breathing it for . . . well, you know . . . we've had our quibbles ! BUT, THANK YOU for hanging in there with me, and NO, what are HD breaks ? ONLY things (as I stated) I will add to the Laredo (E)
75th (23F package) are the ORA1 and TOW Package. If EITHER of these will not allow the 17" Wrangler 75th's wheels swap . . . BOY, now is the time for someone to come up with a definitive answer - PLEASE ! I'm talking without having to use wheel spacers or any other "thing" I'm not aware of - car mechanics was NOT my college major, hee hee.

Any one care to enlighten ?

I don't think I would start knocking Volvo quality given how many GC horror stories have been shared on here.

Also - I've had 2 GCs but I'm not so brand loyal that I won't shop around to see what $50k will buy outside of Jeep. I think it's being a smart consumer. I research and cross-shop any large purchase I make, not just glue myself to a brand and hope for the best.

HD stands for Heavy Duty and come standard when selecting the 5.7L V8.
The Pentastar 3.6L V6 does not get HD brakes. Interestingly the V6 stops in a shorter distance than the Hemi.

HD brakes only work with 18" and above wheels.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar V6 has brakes that accommodate 17" wheels.

Ahh . . . I have been "enlightened" by the jgc4ever, and forever grateful !
My Bad for never mentioning I was going with the V6 (or did I, in a roundabout?). Perhaps I may of assumed, because of my constant Money Issues that I wouldn't be spending the extra $$ on a Hemi, let alone a Diesel !
OK, guess I am all good then.
