Hold on, at least 3 months until production begins. Let's give them a chance to get the new UA_ Series in.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I just don't know if i can wait another year for CarPlay if it doesn't come out this year on the GC. If Fall hits and there is absolutely no word on it I may just keep my Durango for the winters and get a 2017 Challenger Scat Pack instead...At least with that if it does't have CP then i will have 500hp to make up for it

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Makes no difference to me. I would probably feel compelled to buy a smartphone if my car came equipped with it.

I'd rather have real chrome bumpers.

I'm looking at an April 2017 delivery for my next Summit - hopefully, the new Uconnect will be on it by then..

If the '17 JGC doesn't get CarPlay I may consider going and getting a XC90. Current lease is up soon and no CarPlay 3-4 years after it was initially announced is a deal breaker

I thought paying extra for white paint would've broken the camels back. Different world I guess???

Would be highly disappointing if Jeep doesn't put the newest 4th gen Uconnect in their flagship vehicle. Almost insulting given there is no dashboard customization needed due to the same exact screen size - ugh - c'mon Jeep!

Considering that the radio is no longer just a radio, there is more to consider than just fitting it in the dash. In MY14 the entire Jeep electrical infrastructure was changed. They told us you couldn't even swap radios. Many of the computer modules communicate through the 'head unit', the reason it never truly shuts off.

At this point it is up to the head unit manufacturer to come up with a unit that will maintain all the communication links while allowing the newer features to work properly. While the Grand Cherokee is probably the most important product to FCA, it might not hold the level of importance to the electronics manufacturers.

And, if they get one line of computer code wrong, it could be a disaster. I would rather they make sure it is fully tested before making the change.

"They told us"? I swapped my RA3 with an RA4. No issues. The radio can be swapped. I have a MY14.

However, I do agree as our vehicles become more high tech, the radio may become the central nervous system.
