While I totally get the reasoning, and it could even result in a better final product with possibly more power... It kind of makes me sad that no v8's will be available anymore.

Same as an Explorer Sport - how utterly boring

Turbos were fun n all back 20 years ago in imports, but tired of this move away from real American muscle. Thanks Gore - lol

Do they make a turbo that doesn't suck oil, gets good fuel mileage, and you don't have to keep the RPM's up to get power. Maybe the twin turbo for even power. Long live the V8 !

Are there any high mileage turbo's (100 +) that you would buy used? Just asking to be schooled on the new coming reality.

Re: 2017 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Curious to see if the new barracuda will finally launch then with this turbo engine. It's supposed to be much smaller than the challenger and come with a v6 from the last talk I heard a couple years ago.

The biggest benefit of a twin turbo is that you don't have to keep the RPM's up for power. Generally the first turbo kicks in low and the second up higher so you get a more continuous power band. Some of the funnest cars I have ever driven were twin turbo's.

As for high mileage, back in the day I would have said avoid them like the plague as they were notoriously finicky and if not treated well (properly cooled down or on a turbo timer) could be very problematic. However, a lot has changed and the modern turbo's are more reliable than they have been in the past. That said there have been some not so good turbo's as of late (the recent Subaru's that would spin bearings come to mind). So to be seen when we see the new motor and how it is put together.

I'm looking forward to seeing my first tri-coat white. I'm thinking it'll be sharp.

It is an available color on the challengers and the RAM pickups. I went and looked at them at the dealership to get an idea before I ordered. It is a lot more subtle than the super metal flake Cadillac pearls....

I saw a Summit Diesel with the new white at the Chicago Auto Show. It looked really nice.
