I'm not bashing Jeep because I will certainly buy another but I want something new or at a minimum significantly refreshed/refined.

I disagree. But oh well.

There's no "refresh" for MY17...MY17 and MY18 will add some features (such as the Carplay thing just mentioned) and the price will increment , but they are the last two years for this platform. The true refresh is for MY19 that will arrive mid-2018.

There are a lot of things that have been added since the MY11 you drive, which was the first year for the current platform. The list varies based on what trim level, of course, but there's been a lot of tech added, a number of appearance changes, drivetrain improvements, etc. Only you can decide if they are worth you considering an upgrade now or not. Honestly, I'm getting "itchy" relative to my MY12, but we have other vehicle needs to deal with in our family this year due to a new driver, etc. So I will be waiting a bit longer.

Jeep CEO said a few months back that the GC will get another mild refresh in 2016 for the MY2017 GC a few months back. (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee To Get Minor Upgrades; Redesign Delayed | Edmunds.com)

Re: 2017 refresh

"Minor" things...which means largely features and maybe some little cosmetic things that don't require major retooling. They did a mid-level refresh for MY14 that included meaningful changes to the front end relative to lighting, added the 8 speed tranny, broke out the Summit as a separate trim level, etc. I don't think we're going to see anything like that for MY17-18. But that's just an opinion. I could be surprised...

The 8 speed tranny and interior improvements alone would be enough for me. The 2019 is probably going to ride on some Fiat / Maserati platform that will more than likely suck and be closer to a true crossover.

Re: 2017 refresh

I owned a 2011 V8 4x4 Summit and then bought a 2014 V8 4x4 Summit. Glad I did ... for me at least the changes wee worth the money even if it doesn't appear to be a lot of changes, there are a lot of improvements.

I bought my Liberty new.

After 9 years, it owed me nothing .

I bought my G35 used after the payments ended.

I even sold the G35 at no loss before I traded the Liberty.

Funny enough.... because I bought the Jeep new it was always new in my mind, even tho the side steps were completely rotten out.

It was new to me up until the day I traded it for my WK2.

You didn't comment on the Infiniti, I noticed.

My wife is driving my 2013 G37x until the lease term date in February. For a 2 year old vehicle, it's already showing it's age. Lots of rattles/squeaks. For as quick as that little guy is, it just feels completely unrefined.

I had two Infiniti cars, the G and FX, both were 3 year leases and you are right they age very badly, leather started to crack, some rattles and other weird noises started happening. Overall i had 0 problems with both cars but i can't imagine driving them for more than 3 years.

Yes .

Mine was 2007.

Reliable, yes.

Lots of rattles for sure.

Got rid of it because I didn't drive enough to keep 2 cars in my garage.
