Re: 2017 refresh

There are treads about this and most folks feel the photos were of MY16, not MY17. There are no changes for MY17 that are apparent. There's little or nothing to "refresh" for MY17. Perhaps a new feature or two, but we're months away from knowing anything before order banks for MY17 open in June with July production start.

Shockwave will become famous soon enough
Re: 2017 refresh

I have decided to wait it out for a 2017. I was about to buy a 2015 but in 8 months it will already be 2 model years old.

Hopefully CarPlay is part of the 2017 model!

And you will have saved a ton of money. Don't blow upwards of $60,000 on a car that in 2-3 years will lose half its value ...3-4 years old is ideal as the heaviest value loss happens then.

I bought a 2011 Overland in 2014, and a year later they are still selling for the same price... $28,000... Window sticker on mine is $56,000.. Original owner likely paid $50,000, and got maybe $25,000 on trade in for me to be able to buy it for $27,500...

So people should never buy new? Seriously I would not want to pick up one of these things that's already 3 years old. I'm on my third WK2, couldn't imagine buying one already out of warranty and used. No thanks.

Great opinion, hope it works for you but no need to push it off onto everyone else. You were also trolling a leasing thread. You mad about being poor or what?

Re: 2017 refresh

By all means, buy new. It just isn't a wise financial decision.

You must beat the hell out of your vehicles or have only ever seen beat used vehicles

I always go for the gems that were owned by some little old lady and still look show room new.

If you want to throw away $25-$30k every time you buy a new car, be my guest

Just gives the financially wise like myself a deal to work with.

Of course it's not a wise financial decision. It's a depreciating asset. Owning a home isn't that wise of a financial decision either. Utilities, repairs, taxes, economy, etc. But people still do. And if people quit buying these things, the economy would collapse. So I encourage people to buy new. And I'm not going to live my life having shitty used things just to save money that I have the ability and comfort to spend.

Re: 2017 refresh

This is all common sense and doesn't need to be brought up. We all know buying a new vehicle is not the best route, but most of us don't care. I always want to the latest and greatest of everything and usually get it on day 1. I have never bought a new car and this will hopefully last me 12 years or so.

The only reason I am going to buy a GC now is because I don't think my 06 Durango would make it another 6 years for winter useage if I bought a Challeger Scat Pack. My plan is now to buy the GC and then buy Challenger after the GC is paid off in 5 years, if the challenger is still around of course.

No no, buying a house is an investment, as long as you know what you're doing and don't over pay or buy during a crazy boom like everyone did in 2005-2007

I don't recommend buying used junk either. But obviously youve never tried to find gems as they are out there.

Again my 2011 has 33k miles, so years of warranty left, and the dealership I bought at adds 5 years 80,000 ONTOP of the factory warranty.

It looked and still looks show room new.

Buy NEW is idiotic ... Buying flawless used is wise.

Re: 2017 refresh

Well, someone has to buy the 800-1000 brand new JGCs that are produced...per day...from the Jefferson North plant. Buying new is a valid choice, not "idiotic"...and those buyers of new vehicles are providing plenty of inventory for folks who need or prefer to buy pre-owned. It all works out in the end.

Previously you said you're out of the factory warranty and only on powertrain, so you weren't taking it to the dealer for your coolant leak, but the dealer added 5 years and 80k on top of the factory warranty that you've blown through already?

I kind of wish you hadn't wrecked your flawless jeep this week, you might not have the time to troll us idiots.
