Re: 2017 Summit - a few Pix

First, thanks everyone for the comments. As for the light interior, I've had light greys and tans before and was able to keep them looking good. This is a bit lighter, so maybe a little more work. I checked Elmo's website, they produce the leather. The same time leather is used in commercial applications, so hopefully I will be able to handle it.

I do like it even better in person than in pictures.

Silvermax,
In the 100+ miles I've driven so far I really can't say there are any major handling differences. I did set my A/C for 68 degrees and it worked without me fiddling around. That's a major plus.

Overall I feel confident in this one enough that I bought a 5/60 ESP. This is my fifth car in 11 years. First impression is that it's a keeper.

After getting it dirty today I had to wash all the grit off from the NWR. What I found is that the fit and finish is much better. The trim around the door windows seem to be a better quality, or at least it's been treated better.

The paint is the Ivory Tri-Coat. I've had white tri-coat from other manufacturers and find the 'sparkle' is more subdued on the Jeep. The flakes, or chips, or whatever they are called in the paint are much smaller. I like it.

The HK sound is very good. I'm not an audiophile, but it is more than I imagined or will ever need.

I've tried the steering in normal and sport so far. I like the sport, but at less than 200 miles, that could change. My Ford had electric steering with the auto park and all that, so it's not new to me.

The suspension feels like I remember my last Jeep, a '14 Overland also with a Hemi. It had ORII so 18" wheels.

Road noise is there, but I don't need to blast the radio to drown it out. The surprise was on the dirt/gravel roads in the wildlife refuge today. The road noise was a load grumbling sound. It was louder than my Escape and if I remember louder than my Overland. I had an Acura MDX that was loud over these same roads. Just one of those things I guess.

I was backing into a field of high grass today and thought I hit something. Actually the Jeep thought I was going to hit something, so hit the brakes. Scared the you know what out of me.

Super nice looking! Congrats!!
Have you had an opportunity to test the radio mute on start-up? On the 14s and 15s, if the radio was muted and shut down, it would not stay muted on start up. I see you had an Overland, so you prob know what I'm talking about. Not sure if it was fixed on the 16s. Thanks

Thanks. I didn't check out the mute for one simple reason, I always leave the radio on. If I remember tomorrow I'll check.

2017 Summit - a few Pix

Thanks for the response, Bill. I go down a dirt road everyday. It goes from gravel, to washboads, to big holes, to just dirt and two cattle guards. My GC also makes a weird cabin noise, like pressure is pounding around and it could even plug your ears. Must be the 20" wheels? The only other vehicle I experienced the same in was a 2012 Suburban with 20" rims too.

I tried to, but it was already done. But, thanks for the heads up.

My impression was tires, and 20's are a first for me. You have probably hit the nail on the head.

I missed it somewhere I'm sure but, what happened to your 2014? Was it an early build lemon?

Early build but not a true lemon, just a lot of little things that could be fixed while I waited. When the sun visor and brake booster recalls were causing issues for so many, I bailed and traded it in for a 2015 Escape. It was convenient and I got money back in the trade. I planned on a 2016 Summit in Ivory Tri-coat. Since they were so late out of the get ... well, here I am.

Re: 2017 Summit - a few Pix

Yeah I don't blame you for skipping the 16. That was just a weird model year.

Wow I bet you're happy to be out of the escape and into a Summit! Great choice for sure

Re: 2017 Summit - a few Pix

Looks seriously fantastic! Been toying with maybe ordering a 2017 Summit 4x4 V8 in white and gray to replace the 2014. You may have sold me on it! Did you choose any other options?
