Re: 2017 Trailhawk reviews, let's hear em!

I have been driving my 2017 GCTrailhawk since August 27th. The dealer in Oklahoma where I live said I was one of the first in the country behind the wheel.

Maybe true, I dunno. My Trailhawk is The Billet Silver with the hood decal. I took a couple pics in my driveway, but have not figured out how to post them here.

Me and computers don't get along well. I am surprised at the 50k suggested prices on here by some. Mine is fully loaded except for blindside and head on monitoring.

But it has all other listed options and I got it for $43,300. Not much over for the base listed mark of 42,995.

I have bought 4 previous vehicles from the same dealer, so I'm thinking I got the "Friends & Family" package.

This is my first Jeep and my choice was between this Trailhawk and a 2017 TRD Pro 4 Runner. Toyota was not taking orders on the Pro until January and I wouldn't have got it til April.

I actually traded in a 2013 Tacoma TRD and got a good trade in value from the dealer, so am only financing my Trailhawk at $36,000.

The luxury of my Jeep TH blows my Tacoma away along with better ride except as everyone has said , when I go over railroad tracks, the Trailhawk doesn't absorb them like my Tacoma did.

My 52nd birthday is coming up in October and I will be talking the week off of work and hitting the local ATV trails around my area.

Nothing to technical but I anxious to christen this Trailhawk on some un maintained dirt roads and start feeling out the capabilities ole girl has.

I wonder why they still use so marginal of tires on both the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee TH models. If they offer an 'off-road' model (like Wrangler Rubicon) it seems like they would give you off-road tires.

Re: 2017 Trailhawk reviews, let's hear em!

More off road based tires are heavier and usually louder and in many cases wear faster then the more mild lighter tires....also I'd say that most Trailhawks I see running around here are most likely never going to see any off road or off road that the standard passenger radials wouldn't handle....even the Ram 1500s, not sure about the 2500/3500 though come with passenger radials....its all about keeping the weight down and the rolling resistance low as well as minimizing NHV

Re: 2017 Trailhawk reviews, let's hear em!

I agree with that. The majority of trailhawks will be purchased by people who rarely/never go off roading or who do occasional off road/camping. Jeep is no dummy. They built an awesome looking vehicle with great capabilities but that can be used as a comfortable daily driver.

The Goodyear AT tires with Kevlar on the JGC Trailhawk (and other JGC with ORA-II for MY16+) are pretty capable tires that are still "enjoyable" on the highway. Most hard-core off-roaders are not going to choose a Cherokee TH or Grand Cherokee TH anyway. These are all around vehicles with accommodations to give them better off-road capability OEM without losing the on-road comfort that most buyers want and prefer.

Does anyone own a TH like this one with the LUX II package and 20 inch wheels? If so, how much did you pay?

Re: 2017 Trailhawk reviews, let's hear em!

I haven't seen any at my local dealership with the 20's yet. All of them had 18s.

Anyone here driven a Summit, then a Trailhawk? I'd love to know if Jeep stiffened up the shocks at all because the Summit definitely needs more damping to match the airbags.

The 20" wheels have likely been removed from all '17 TH models. Check the MY17 thread for information regarding the removal of the wheel.

Re: 2017 Trailhawk reviews, let's hear em!

I'm loving mine. It seemed to be riding a bit rough, so i checked the tires they were at 50 psi......dropped them down and much better. I've only had mine for about half of today but very happy so far. Totally different beast then the TJs and JKs i've been driving for the last 20 years. The Granite Crystal looks great, i am very happy with the paint choice. Hopefully i will be heading to Moab in the next month or so, i should have a bit more to say after i get some trail time in.
