20's on Overland

All,

I am going to buy the overland. Only question I have (besides color combination) is wheter or not to get the offroad package with the 18's or stick with the nicer looking 20's.

I will not be doing any serious off roading and 90% if my driving will be on the pavement during my Hr commute to work. I do, however, need the ability to drive through the mountains during the worst snow storms of the season. Will the stock 20's be up for the task?

Thanks.

Re: 20's on Overland

You will be fine with the 20s and they are hands down better looking as well.

Re: 20's on Overland

+1 to 20's with the right rubber will be fine for snow unless your road is rough with a ton of potholes. Blizzaks evidently are avail in the 20's now per the SEMA photos.

If you can swing it, running 18's with winter rubber, and 20's for rest of year works well, but can be a bit more costly.

The 20 inch Forteras don't get a great rating from Tire Rack. The 18 inch Michelins get a great rating and are better in snow. I actually think the 18 inch tires are nicer and the wheels are also very nice. I went with them because I wanted the Michelins and I was told that you get a rougher ride with the 20s.

^^What he said. Plus 18s will be cheaper to replace with many more choices available.

Re: 20's on Overland

Everything they say about the 18s is totally true and rational, but if all your driving through is snow there is no way that the 20s will be a problem unless you live in Alaska and ur crossing where the dog sleighs are going to ur igloo. All I have to say u can't beat the look of the 20s it's a whole different look on the car.

Re: 20's on Overland

I'd go with the 18's. In my opinion, the 18's are a better looking wheel, especially in polished finish. The 20's look more like they belong on a car.

Re: 20's on Overland

I have the standard 20", but for winter I plan to get 18's. The 20's have a surprisingly smooth ride.

Re: 20's on Overland

So if I stick with the 20 rims I should switch out the tires to all terrain? Hiw much will that cost? Will that have an effect on the onroad driving (cornering, gas mileage, feel etc..)?

Thanks for everones input.
