The majority of the people out there do not realize this! There is no such thing as an all "American" company. Ford and Chevy are based here but have factories all over the world, including China. Just because you buy an American vehicle does not mean it was made here nor does it mean the money is going to stay here. You may buy a new F-150 and be proud of your made in America purchase but the profit from that truck may go to build that new factory in China or somewhere else in the world that is going to employee Chinese workers and not Americans. I prefer to look at it by who employees the most americans (or Canadians) to acutally build the car and most of its parts. If you are going for all American then you should be looking at Toyota, atleast their trucks. They have some of the highest North American parts and most are built here in the US. It was funny when I still had my Tacoma, it was built here but my Chevy truck was the foreign made vehicle (Canada).

most of the suppliers provide just as many parts to GM, Ford, Chrysler as they do Honda, nissan, toyota, etc. If the other companies weren't dumping their profits back into the U.S., then there would be a strong arguement. When they support the US suppliers, build new plants creating new jobs, while GM, Ford, Chrylser are building and moving globally it's all a moot point, IMO.

The other interesting piece of info is many of the so called "US suppliers" are owned by larger Non U.S. companies.

Re: 3.6 Pentastar made in Michigan and Mexico

There are alot of people out there you can tell this to but most will just argue back because they don't want to face this global economy we are all in. Most of my family an in-laws are hardcore ford fanatics and last week one was raving about the new GT and about that all-American muscle. I happened to mention that the manual GT transmission is made in China and the room got silent. No one wanted to beleive it and said that could not be right.
