3.6 towing capacity/options

Ok guys so i have been searching but no clear answers.

I have a 13 Laredo 3.6 2 wheel drive. With no tow package.

Is there a hitch available that does not require changing the rear valance part of the bumper? How much weight can i tow? Will it handle U-Haul's large trailer full with my apartment?

After that i would use it for a bike rack or something of that nature.

Thank u!

Owners manual should give tow rating without tow package. Check Etrailer.com for aftermarket hitches that might hang below bumper.

They sure look better integrated into rear valence, though.

There are a couple of aftermarket ones, Curt and Draw-Tite. I got the Draw-Tite from Amazon and I'm very happy with it, although I only use it for a Thule 4 bike rack. If you are going to hook up a trailer I believe Uhaul can install a harness if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

That price is not bad at all if you install it yourself.

Re: 3.6 towing capasity/options

Call U-Haul and ask what trailer you can rent with an aftermarket receiver. I have seen them refuse to rent something beyond the load rating. The max you can pull is 5,000 lbs but they may derate for a different receiver.

Looks like the Drawtight uses two bolts on each side instead of four like the factory unit & does not slide into the body channels. Dunno if a F*rd 150 front end will fold around the receiver as one did on mine.
