Re: 3.6L E85 Models vs Non - E85 models
I have FINALLY spoken to a service manager here in Australia, who has confirmed with head office, there is no difference in ‘the metal’ between the E-85 and non E-85 compatible WK2’s, right/left hand side drive aside.. pumps, lines, senders, injectors etc are all the same, ecu part numbers share the same across batch numbers, the ONLY thing that is different, is software related, there is software in the E-85 versions that compensate for the Ethanol content and adjust accordingly to it’s content.
Continued to say 'Whilst filling with E-85 won’t ‘kill it’ it’s hardly beneficial to any extent, as it more than likely will not run very smoothly at all and would not be as efficient as one that is equipped with the software to suit E-85. So it’s a double lose lose scenario. The only way would be to get a US E-85 software loaded into the system. As that is what a lot of the US market is doing, a simple dealer re-flash/update to use E-85, and add fuel cap/ fuel door label.'
so unless i can get the OEM tune for an E-85 compatible US WK2 it's E10 & Ordinary Unleaded..
