I hit a coyote 3 weeks after getting mine.

Broke the lower plastic fascia.

Do you mind if I ask how much it was to replace the fascia? I'm in Aus so I know the price will be different but just to get an idea.
Majority of the damage on mine was to the painted area right under the grill but the fascia copped a couple of scratches. The panel beater had told me it will be a pretty expensive job to get them out so I'm just getting the paint fixed. Anyone else would probably not even be able to notice the them on the fascia once the rest is fixed, even if I paid them $50 to spot it. But I know they are there!

Re: 3 month new car curse

Not long after I got my Jeep I was rear-ended in stop and go traffic. Their car was damaged by the tow bar and mine just ended up with a couple minor scratches on the rear bumper fascia. The damage could have been worse if it wasn't for the tow bar.

I did go 2 years with no door scratches. My nephew and I were moving a metal bracket for some dock wheels this summer and kissed the driver's door enough to create a scratch in the paint. A couple of weeks ago I noticed another door scrape on the same door.

Then again, it's not a real jeep unless it gets beat up a bit over the years... (grin)

I didn't replace it myself. 1 year later, some bloke pulled an illegal u-turn in front of me and front fascia was scratched and broke even more. Insurance replaced everything, they assumed the coyote damage was caused by the collision from u-turn.

Ah ok. That sucks that someone pulled in front of you, but good that you got the original damage fixed under insurance instead. Nice!

Re: 3 month new car curse

I had a new 06 Jetta with 900 miles and valet parking wrapped the fender around a pole backing out of the parking spot. Had the dealer spray the fender, door, bumper, and hood. Looked good, but the front end got so many rock chips in the next 6 months it was ridiculous. Ended up selling it.

Nothing is as durable as factory paint. When someone else damages your near new vehicle they take value away, no doubt.

Re: 3 month new car curse

New member and new Grand Cherokee owner here. I've been lurking around the forums a bit and this thread cracked me up.

I bought a new 2015 Grand Cherokee in the end of June. Two months later in August we get hit with a huge hailstorm which is unheard of in Boston. Five weeks in the shop, $7000 worth of damage, new hood and lots of paintless dent removal I finally get my truck back.

The worst part is, I feel like nothing is the same anymore. Interior panels are loose and don't fit right, exterior trim doesn't look right, there are scratches on the roof, and they put a scratch on my dashboard. I think new car curses really do exist.

The Universe hates a shiny new vehicle--or pretty much anything shiny, pretty, and undinged.

Very similar to heat death known as entropy, is the scientific principle "dentropy" so well proven in experiment.

Re: 3 month new car curse

Not more than a couple weeks I had mine I walked back to my car that was parked to find the driver mirror assembly smashed. Someone thought it was pretty funny. I never claimed it so I'm still driving with a cracked outside driver mirror assembly. It vibrates when I play music loud.

I thought that I was upset when my wife tells me that our 5 week old GC got a nice stone chip in the windshield. Your stories are making me feel much better

Damn that sucks. But the loose fitting interior panels, that's just the shop rushing out the Jeep and not taking time. No excuse for that.

Have taken off panels in my Jeeps for years. Never had rattles from panels being taken off.

My goodness! The hail did do a number on you poor GC... and by the sounds of things the repair shop had a good crack at it too. That really sucks. It's such a nice and enjoyable feeling to have a nice shiny new toy, and us Jeep people are a proud bunch of our new machines, to have it basically ruined is just awful I hope something can be done to make it a bit more like it was originally for you
